Position Summary:

The Manager, Human Resources provides operational leadership and supports strategic leadership for the Hospital's Human Resources function. The position leads a multidisciplinary HR team and provides expert advice on employee and labour relations, recruitment, retention, compensation and benefits, attendance support and HR administration. Working collaboratively with leaders, union partners and internal and external stakeholders, the Manager ensures responsive service delivery, legislative and collective agreement compliance, effective day-to-day operations and continuous improvement aligned with organizational priorities and a values-based, patient-centred service model.

Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Abilities:
  • University or college degree/diploma in Human Resources, Industrial Relations or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of post-secondary Human Resources education and professional development.
  • Certified Human Resources Leader (CHRL) designation is an asset.
  • Minimum five years of progressive Human Resources leadership and management experience in a complex, unionized public-sector environment; healthcare experience is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading labour relations, grievance and arbitration processes and collective bargaining, attendance support, mediation and dispute resolution
  • Proven experience with strategic HR planning, operational HR service delivery and transformational change.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant Ontario legislation, including the Employment Standards Act, 2000; Labour Relations Act, 1995; Hospital Labour Disputes Arbitration Act; Human Rights Code; and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Strategic HR planning capability combined with a hands-on approach to effective day-to-day operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, mentor and build a high-performing team.
  • Highly effective consultation, relationship-building, collaboration, change leadership, decision-making and influencing skills.
  • Excellent organization and time-management skills in a fast-paced, multi-union healthcare environment with competing priorities.
  • Familiarity with workforce management and scheduling systems, preferably UKG Workforce Management (Kronos), including labour impacts on scheduling, staffing allocation, attendance management and workforce analytics.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Microsoft Teams; working knowledge of Meditech is an asset.
  • Ability to advance a strong vision for values-based, patient-centred service delivery.
