Position Summary

The Manager, Human Factors Engineering leads a team of Human Factors Engineers responsible for ensuring that products are safe, effective, and usable throughout the product lifecycle. This role provides strategic, technical, and organizational leadership for Human Factors Engineering activities, partnering across functions to translate user needs and insights into product requirements, design decisions, and evidence that supports product quality, regulatory success, and business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage Outcomes

You are accountable for your team's delivery across all phases of product development. Through effective planning, prioritization, and collaboration, you ensure critical risks are identified and addressed, evidence is generated to support key decisions, and program commitments are delivered on time and with high quality.

Shape Strategy

You define and execute the roadmap for your area, balancing near-term program needs with long-term capability building. In partnership with Regulatory Affairs and R&D leadership, you help shape evidence and submission strategies, align resources to priorities, and drive decisions that support product approval, adoption, and business success.

Grow People

Build an impactful team by attracting, developing, and retaining exceptional talent. Provide coaching, mentorship, and growth opportunities that strengthen technical expertise, leadership capability, and organizational impact.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Lead resource planning and allocation across multiple programs to ensure priorities are aligned with business objectives.
  • Provide technical leadership in usability, use-related risk management, and validation activities.
  • Guide the development of evidence packages and documentation supporting product approvals and lifecycle management.
  • Partner with R&D, Clinical, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, and Marketing to ensure user needs are reflected in product and business decisions.
  • Drive continuous improvement of methods, processes, tools, and organizational capabilities.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Factors Engineering, Psychology, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience leading human factors or usability activities for regulated products.
  • Experience managing technical professionals and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong understanding of usability engineering, risk management, and product development processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence decisions, align stakeholders, and deliver results in a cross-functional environment.
  • Excellent communication, mentoring, and leadership skills.


Preferred
  • Advanced degree in a relevant discipline.
  • Experience supporting regulatory submissions and interactions with global health authorities.
  • Experience leading teams across multiple concurrent development programs.
  • Experience with complex medical devices, robotics, digital health, or healthcare technologies.


Other
  • Ability to work on site (Santa Clara or Cincinnati) from three to five days weekly based on business needs
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%, both domestically and internationally

The anticipated base pay range for this position is :
$134,000.00 - $231,150.00

Additional Description for Pay Transparency:
The anticipated base pay range for this position is $117,000 - $201,250. If based out of the Bay Area, CA., the anticipated base pay range for this position $134,000 - $231,150.

Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees and/or eligible dependents are eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance.
Subject to the terms of their respective plans, employees are eligible to participate in the Company's consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).
Subject to the terms of their respective policies and date of hire, Employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:
Vacation -120 hours per calendar year
Sick time - 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington -56 hours per calendar year
Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays -13 days per calendar year
Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
Parental Leave - 480 hours within one year of the birth/adoption/foster care of a child
Condolence Leave - 30 days for an immediate family member: 5 days for an extended family member
Caregiver Leave - 10 days
Volunteer Leave - 4 days
Military Spouse Time-Off - 80 hours
