Patient safety, quality outcomes, and operational excellence all depend on the consistent execution of critical behind-the-scenes processes. The High-Level Disinfection (HLD) Manager plays an essential leadership role in ensuring the safe and efficient reprocessing of endoscopic and specialty scopes that support patient care across UVA Health.

This is a unique opportunity to lead a newly established, centralized High - Level Disinfection program designed to enhance standardization, efficiency, and compliance across multiple procedural specialties and care sites. As the leader of this important initiative, you will help build a team, shape processes, and create a lasting impact on the future of procedural services throughout the health system.

The Role

The High-Level Disinfection Manager provides operational and people leadership for a dedicated team responsible for the reprocessing and high-level disinfection of endoscopic and specialty scopes across UVA Health. This position oversees day-to-day operations, quality standards, staffing, and workflow coordination while partnering closely with clinical and operational leaders across multiple ambulatory and procedural care environments.

In this role, you will balance strategic program development with hands-on operational oversight, ensuring high standards of safety, compliance, and efficiency are maintained throughout the reprocessing continuum.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a newly established High - Level Disinfection team.

  • Oversee scope reprocessing, disinfection, handling, and related operational activities across multiple specialties and locations.

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, infection prevention standards, accreditation expectations, and industry best practices.

  • Drive consistency, standardization, and continuous improvement across centralized HLD operations.

  • Partner with procedural, ambulatory, perioperative, and operational leaders to support high-quality patient care.

  • Monitor productivity, quality, staffing, and operational performance metrics.

  • Support change management initiatives as UVA Health continues to expand and mature its centralized HLD model.

  • Develop solutions to moderately complex operational challenges while fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and collaboration.

  • Manage and develop frontline staff while ensuring efficient utilization of resources and timely completion of departmental objectives .

This role is ideal for a leader with experience in high-level disinfection, scope reprocessing, sterile processing, endoscopy operations, or procedural services leadership who enjoys building teams, improving processes, and driving measurable operational impact.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor's degree obtained within 2 years of hire.

Experience: Three years management or supervisory experience within sterile processing

Licensure: Certification as CRCST or above through IAHCSMM OR certification as CSPDT or above through CBSPD.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently bending/stooping, reaching (overhead, extensive, and repetitive); Repetitive motion: computer keyboard. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 50 - 100lbs. May be exposed to noise, radiation, radioactive materials, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.

The pay range for this role is $74,900.80 - $125,382.00 annually. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
