We are looking for you to join our team as a Hardware Engineering Manager 1 based out of Woodland Hills, CA. Our success is grounded in our ability to embrace change, move quickly and continuously drive innovation. The successful candidate will be collaborative, open, transparent, and team-oriented with a focus on team empowerment & shared responsibility, flexibility, continuous learning, and a culture of automation. This is a fully onsite position located in Woodland Hills, CA working a 9/80 schedule. This is an 80/20 role where 80% of the time is spent on program activities and 20% of the time spent on staff management and development.

What You'll get to Do:
  • Manage/Oversee the engineering design, development, and transition to production of PCB (printed circuit board), parts library, and layout as well as component engineering of inertial navigation systems
  • Develop and implement strong processes with emphasis on quantitative management and continuous improvement
  • Provide management guidance to achieve outstanding cost, schedule and technical performance
  • Responsible for technical guidance and oversight in developing technical and cost proposals
  • Interface with business focused discipline leads to coordinate staffing requirements and ensure proper skill mix to support program activities
  • Mentor and challenge team members to develop skills and provide career planning/development paths
  • Responsible for all manager related activities to include, but not limited to: conduct performance and salary reviews, approve timecards, performance management, and work closely with HR on elevated employee matters
  • Other duties as assigned


Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) or related discipline with 5 years of relevant experience; Master's degree with 3 years of relevant experience. PhD with 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Experience leading a team on a technical development effort or technical production support
  • Understanding of the engineering processes and tools used in PCB layout and/or components engineering
  • Experience with CCA design, fabrication, and/or test and verification
  • Experienced with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools and processes used for hardware designs
  • Experience with generating and/or reviewing cost estimates/basis of estimates (BOEs)
  • U.S. Citizenship required
  • A current/active U.S. Government Secret clearance.
  • Must be willing and able to effectively manage a geographically dispersed team
  • Must be able to work full-time onsite


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in a technical field
  • Experience in the development and implementation of processes to ensure product development efficiency and accuracy
  • A proven track record of leading a team of engineers and of establishing strong relationships with other functional organizations and Program Offices
  • Experienced with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools, such as Siemens Teamcenter Enterprise or Teamcenter Unified Architecture (UA) or Tc AW - Active Workspace used for hardware designs.
  • Experienced with failure analysis techniques and methods (RCCAs)
  • Technical project management with budget/EVMS experience
  • Experience with technical proposals
  • Knowledge of engineering planning, scheduling, metrics, earned value systems, and workload forecasting


Primary Level Salary Range: $121,000.00 - $181,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
