JOB DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Facility Manager (Oriskany)

Department: Engineering - Management

Reports to: Director, Engineering

Supervises: Maintenance Mechanic, Operators, Hawthorne Machine Shop

FLSA Status: Salaried Exempt

POSITION INFORMATION:

The Facility Manager (Oriskany) is an essential member of Fisk Alloy Engineering Department responsible for overseeing the plant functions which include machine fabrication and equipment overhauls, warehousing and logistics, special projects, and overall facility maintenance. The Facility Manager, Oriskany will lead a team of 2-3 maintenance mechanics that perform all operations throughout the plant. This position reports to Director, Engineering.

Job Summary:
  • Lead Oriskany operations in support of the main plant in Hawthorne, NJ
  • Direct and assist with material inventory and logistics management
  • Supervise and participate in machine overhaul and maintenance
  • Oversee facility maintenance to assure the safe and proper function of the building at large
  • Perform special projects in support of both Fisk Alloy facilities that typically include equipment fabrication, pilot manufacturing, and inventory control improvements.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Overseeing day-to-day operations of the Oriskany facility
  • Coordinating raw material and equipment logistics in support of the Hawthorne, NJ facility
  • Planning, directing, and participating in scheduled machine overhauls, including, but not limited to, machine disassembly, cleaning, structural repair, parts fabrication, assembly, and finish paint. Machinery includes tubular stranders, respoolers, and other wire processing equipment.
  • Managing raw material staging, storage, and inventory, including regular inventory cycle counts and audits
  • Performing procurement activities in support of the facility, including drafting, approving, and placing purchase orders
  • Scheduling/prioritizing multiple projects and fabrication activities to support operations team
  • Developing and maintaining prioritized schedules to communicate status of projects, activities, and shipments
  • Working with internal and external suppliers to marshal components and materials required for equipment builds and enhancements
  • Working with Inventory Control function to manage production of internally fabricated spare parts
  • Working with maintenance for unique, specialized, and precision repairs and for exchange of best practices in equipment fabrication, preventive maintenance, and equipment repair
  • Will be required to visit and shuttle product to and from the Hawthorne, NJ facility and Oriskany, NY Facility on a periodic basis as needed basis (2-3 times a month).


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Educational/Training Requirement:
  • Minimum: High School diploma
  • Preferred: BS in Operations Management, Industrial Engineering or equivalent

Experience:
  • 5 years in management/supervisory role minimum, 10 years in management/supervisory role preferred

Licenses/Certifications:
  • Fork Lift license/certification by state/local agency or last former employer
  • Commercial B Driver License Preferred


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • MUST be able to work independently to deploy team projects and activities tactically within agreed guidelines and little supervision
  • MUST have extensive experience in maintaining precision machinery and complex electromechanical assemblies
  • MUST have proficiency with managing projects, and deploy formal and informal tools and methods to drive projects to successful completion
  • MUST possess communication skills essential to translate customer requirements into tangible equipment solutions that add intended value
  • Must demonstrate skilled mechanical aptitude for assembly and disassembly of components
  • Ability to quickly learn & master technical information necessary for the successful completion of projects
  • Comfort with peer-level delegation and supervision, both in project teams as well as normative work
  • Comfort with computer and software skills that include Microsoft™ Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Powerpoint) or equivalent
  • Comfort with machine building, mechanical assembly, and precision alignment
  • Experience with electrical, electronic integration into machinery
  • Comfort and familiarity with maintenance of bearings, motors, drive components, pumps, and pneumatic systems a plus
  • Welding skills a plus
  • Experience with traditional fabrication experience including, but not limited to, milling, turning, grinding, welding and drilling
  • Familiarity with design of electromechanical systems, control systems, fluid systems, and electronics integration into machinery.
