Job Summary

In Equity Service, we improve Vanguard's ability to deliver unmatched equity investment outcomes by ensuring high-quality inputs for daily trading, translating those inputs into a holistic portfolio view, and informing portfolio management strategies through expert insights and analytics.

The Equity Service Manager will lead front-line crew responsible for delivering investment data, liquidity, and trade support across the investment lifecycle to Vanguard's Global Equity, Strategic Equity, and Quantitative Equity Groups. You'll partner closely with portfolio managers, traders, and cross-functional teams, ensuring our equity strategies are powered by accurate data, strong controls, and scalable processes - all aligned with Vanguard's mission to give investors the best chance for investment success.

Core Responsibilities
  • Hires, evaluates, and supervises crew. Provides guidance and training as necessary to develop crew. Sets performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Leads and oversees multiple teams delivering portfolio administration, operational, data management, and trade readiness services across portfolios, asset classes, and investment strategies with increased scope and complexity, ensuring delivery in accordance with defined procedures, objectives, and service standards.
  • Serves as a senior operational partner to portfolio managers, traders, and business leaders on complex investment, data, and execution-related matters.
  • Provides oversight of advanced portfolio modeling, analysis, and reconciliation activities performed by the team, reviewing output and resolving issues that materially impact portfolio readiness or investment decisions.
  • Oversee complex investment data and advanced portfolio analysis, modeling, validation, and impact assessment activities to ensure data integrity, operational readiness, and alignment with investment objectives. Defines and executes strategy aligned with investment business objectives.
  • Establishes escalation frameworks and decision protocols for complex operational risks, ensuring consistent application of root-cause analysis and sustainable remediation.
  • Builds and applies investment knowledge of financial markets, investment products, regulatory developments, and functional investment management areas. Drives adherence to operating procedures, documentation standards, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, scalability, and control.
  • Drives cross-functional process improvements, system enhancements, and standardization initiatives to improve scalability, efficiency, and risk management.
  • Leads operational strategy for new portfolios, products, or market-driven initiatives, overseeing requirements definition, data validation, testing, and implementation across teams. Monitors market, index, regulatory, and business developments; assesses downstream operational impacts and directs required data, process, and control changes.
  • Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications
  • Minimum of five years' experience in the Financial Services industry or related experience. Supervisory experience required.
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience. Graduate degree preferred.
