Job Summary/Overview

The Manager, Engineered Systems will develop solutions and drive automation projects including creating design specifications, software configuration and testing, as well as commissioning and start-up of a variety of hoist lifting systems. The ideal candidate will have a track record of proficiency in team leadership, client relationships, control system design, and troubleshooting all in high intensity environments. The Manager, Engineered Systems is accountable for complete project execution including profitability, on time delivery and system design.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and accountability for project execution, ensuring successful delivery from concept through commissioning while meeting performance, quality, and financial objectives.
  • Build, maintain, and grow customer relationships for engineered systems; identify opportunities for new business and support plant-driven projects as needed.
  • Act as a liaison between customers and internal operations.
  • Independently manage multiple projects and system orders simultaneously, balancing priorities, resources, and timelines to meet customer needs.
  • Develop and communicate project estimates, including costs, schedules, scope, and key deliverables, to support customer proposals and internal planning.
  • Provide both mechanical and electrical solutions for start-ups.
  • Maintain and coordinate detailed project schedules, including engineering, manufacturing, and field service activities, to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills, Competencies, and Abilities

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to be applied in design, commissioning, and troubleshooting of integrated systems.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and machine building skills.
  • Ability to perform calculations including HP, gear ratios, and tensile strength.
  • Familiar with NEC, UL508a, NEMA, IP ratings, and general machine design practices.
  • Understand mechanical elements in sizing and designing control systems.
  • Ability to lead electro-mechanical design reviews with customers.
  • Must be experienced with PLCs, VFDs, encoders, power components, and controls design.
  • Must work as a teammate and have experience working in a cross-functional manufacturing environment.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or similar degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience working with automated equipment, including CNC machines and programming, with strong electrical knowledge and understanding of current machining best practices.
  • DoD and MIL project experience a plus.
  • Willing and able to travel as necessary for project requirements to include but not be limited to: project installation and start-up activities, client meetings, company sponsored meetings, training, industry related seminars, forums, or conventions, etc.
