WHO YOU'LL WORK WITH

Converse's User Experience & Digital Capabilities team owns UX design, strategy, and digital product management for converse.com and direct marketing, within Converse's Direct organization. This role leads a team of UX Strategists and Designers, reports to the Director of UX & Digital Capabilities, and partners with merchandising, experience strategy, content design, product management, and technology.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR

Converse is looking for a design leader who can run a team and still ship great work personally - a true player-coach. The ideal candidate combines deep craft in Figma and modern design tools with real people-management experience: setting goals, coaching growth, and owning performance for a small team, not just informal mentorship. They are comfortable owning a day-to-day portfolio of design work, leading high-visibility engagements, and representing design in go-to-market conversations alongside merchandising and content partners. They have developed design strategies to SEO execution. They bring working fluency in behavioral analytics tools like Contentsquare and are comfortable interpreting Adobe Analytics or Google Analytics data to inform design decisions. E-commerce design experience is required. This role suits someone energized by both mentorship and hands-on craft.
  • 8+ years of experience in UX/product design, including 2+ years directly managing designers.
  • Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or a related field; will accept any suitable combination of education, experience, and training.
  • No specific certification required; portfolio-demonstrated expertise at an expert-level craft is accepted for leveling.
  • Experience partnering with SEO stakeholders to develop strategy - understanding how design and content decisions affect organic search performance.
  • Standard office environment.

WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

You'll lead Converse's UX Design team - owning the day-to-day design portfolio, coaching designers, and staying hands-on in Figma. You'll also drive our biggest design bets, from redesigns to go-to-market moments where you represent design for Converse Digital.
  • You'll lead and grow a team of UX Strategists and Designers - setting priorities, coaching craft, and owning performance and career growth.
  • You'll play a lead role in shaping converse.com's UX strategy alongside experience strategy and merchandising partners - and take ownership of designing and implementing against it.
  • You'll partner with stakeholders to develop SEO strategy and the tactical processes that guide how design and content decisions support converse.com's organic search performance.
  • You'll manage the day-to-day UX design portfolio across converse.com and direct marketing, balancing capacity against commerce, marketing, and consumer service roadmaps.
  • You'll represent UX Design in cross-functional planning meetings with merchandising, experience strategy, and content design.
  • You'll lead major design engagements end-to-end, including scoping and managing external design agencies on initiatives.
  • You'll stay hands-on in Figma, reviewing and directly contributing to design work at a staff-plus level of craft.
  • You'll use Contentsquare and Adobe/Google Analytics data to identify UX problems, prioritize work, and validate design decisions post-launch.
  • You'll partner closely with Digital Product Management to keep design and product roadmaps aligned.
