Qualifications

• Associate's Degree required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• 5-7 years of relevant experience in law enforcement or public safety.
• Extensive supervisory background required.
• Completion of Indiana Law Enforcement Academy Tier I or II training (or equivalent) is mandatory.
• Current non-restricted Indiana Driver's License is a must.
• Proficiency in computer software and programs is necessary.
• Must pass background investigation, drug screening, and psychological exam.
• Successful completion of Firearms Proficiency Test with ongoing requalifications required.
• No history of law enforcement license denial or revocation.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Chief to manage and direct departmental duties and operations.
• Oversee personnel matters and planning within the Department of Public Safety.
• Handle financial management and budget preparation for the agency.
• Participate in recruiting and hiring new team members.
• Engage with internal and external stakeholders for collaborative purposes.
• Command departmental activities in the Chief's absence.
• Conduct complex administrative work associated with operational activities.
