Overview

The Manager, Debt and Treasury will oversee the debt portfolio and ensure compliance with debt covenants and Municipal Securities Rulemaking Board (MSRB) regulations; assist with all treasury functions for Hackensack Meridian Health (the 'Network' or HMH); maintain relationships with all treasury vendors, including investment advisors, custodians, managers, banks and other financial institutions. Will also plan, assign, and/or supervise the work of others.

 

**This is a Hybrid role - you will be required to go to office in Iselin the second Tuesday of each month.

Responsibilities

A day in the life of a Manager, Debt and Treasury at Hackensack Meridian Health includes:

  • Manage financial covenant requirements.
  • Manage ongoing municipal market disclosures to satisfy MSRB regulations. 
  • Develop annual interest expense budgets.
  • Prepare IRS Form 990, Schedule K - Supplemental Information on Tax-Exempt Bonds.
  • Report financial/operational data to various banks and state agencies.
  • Maintain effective relationships with investment advisors and custodians for all investments of the Network. 
  • Ensure all debt transactions and the allocation of interest expense, are accounted for properly on a monthly basis. 
  • In conjunction with Director, ensure investment portfolios remain in line with investment policy targets. Suggest and make adjustments through recommendations to management, as necessary.
  • Partner with investment advisors, custodians, and managers, to execute transactions for the Network's balance sheet asset portfolios and its retirement plan portfolios.
  • Partner with Finance team to ensure that any excess cash on hand is appropriately invested in accordance with internal policies. 
  • Safeguard all investments to ensure they are accounted for properly on a monthly basis. 
  • Assist with organizing all internal reports for the investment committee and other meetings with investment advisors.
  • Assist with internal and external audit inquiries related to investments for the Network.
  • Oversees staff in reviewing and approving monthly journal entries for all across the Network. 
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned. 
  • Adheres to HMH's competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 or more years of demonstrated experience in Finance/Treasury.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheet programs (i.e., Excel, etc.).
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Demonstrates initiative and sense of urgency.
  • Disciplined approach to strategic initiatives, business projects and day-to-day activities
  • Ability to analyze and comprehend complex information, as well as convey complex materials to senior management.
  • Comfortable dealing with both complexity and ambiguity, with ability to explore multiple solutions to a problem. 
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills. 
  • High degree of financial acumen (finance and economics). 
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written, verbal and presentation).

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

  • Oracle PeopleSoft systems.
  • Master's in Business Administration (MBA).
  • Prior experience managing a Finance/Treasury team.

Licenses and Certifications Preferred:

  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Financial Analyst.
