Full Job Description
The Manager, Corporate Store Planning leads a team of Architectural Technologists responsible for planning and supporting the execution of store development projects across Mark's and Sport Chek. This role oversees the development of store layouts, fixture and merchandising plans, and planning standards, ensuring alignment with business objectives, operational requirements, construction schedules, and brand standards.

Working closely with business partners, Construction, Real Estate, Procurement, Design, Store Operations, IT, Marketing, and external consultants, the Manager supports new stores, renovations, relocations, remerchandising initiatives, and capital projects. The role provides leadership, drives cross functional collaboration, and champions continuous improvement within the store planning function.

What You'll Do:
  • Lead and manage the Corporate Store Planning team, providing coaching, development, workload management, and performance leadership.
  • Partner closely with Mark's and Sport Chek business leaders to understand strategic priorities and translate them into executable store planning solutions.
  • Collaborate with Construction Project Managers and cross functional teams to ensure store plans align with project schedules, budgets, operational requirements, and construction milestones.
  • Lead the development, review, and approval of store layouts, fixture plans, merchandising plans, and operational planning packages.
  • Ensure planning standards, prototypes, design guidelines, and merchandising requirements are consistently applied across all projects.
  • Coordinate with Real Estate, Construction, Procurement, Design Standards, Store Operations, Field Merchandising, IT, Marketing, HR, and external consultants throughout project lifecycles.
  • Support capital investment planning and portfolio prioritization by providing planning expertise, feasibility assessments, and project recommendations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve store efficiency, customer experience, space productivity, and operational effectiveness through innovative planning solutions.
  • Oversee planning support for new stores, renovations, expansions, remerchandising programs, and special initiatives.
  • Establish and maintain planning processes, tools, templates, and governance practices that support scalable project execution.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively manage risks, constraints, and dependencies that could impact delivery.
  • Facilitate alignment between multiple stakeholders while balancing competing priorities and timelines.
  • Support annual planning activities, budget development, and resource forecasting for the Corporate Store Planning function.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and champion best practices across banners and functional teams.

What You'll Bring:

  • 5+ years of experience in retail planning, construction, project management, store development, merchandising planning, or related disciplines.
  • 3+ years of people leadership experience with demonstrated success leading high performing teams.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Revit
  • Strong understanding of retail environments, store development processes, fixture planning, and merchandising principles.

Our typical hiring range is between $79,000.00 and $131,000.00 CAD Annual. Salary decisions are also dependent on other factors such as your experience, job-related knowledge, skills and competencies, market location, industry benchmarks, internal equity and other role-specific requirements.
