Full Job Description
About the role:

As our Collections Manager, you'll own the full collections and accounts receivable lifecycle at 8am, from recovering outstanding balances day to day to setting the strategy behind how we do it. You'll lead a team of analysts and specialists, keep aging low and recovery high, and make sure every step holds up to our financial controls. You'll partner across Finance, Risk, Sales, Operations, and Engineering, and bring AI into the workflow to cut manual case handling and speed up recovery.

What you'll do:
  • Own the end-to-end collections and accounts receivable process, from daily recovery to strategy across customer and merchant segments.
  • Lead and mentor a team of collections analysts and specialists, setting goals and tracking KPIs like aging, recovery rates, and service levels.
  • Run core collections operations, including TSYS balance holds, ACH return reporting, monthly write-offs, and collections journal entries.
  • Analyze delinquency trends and use the data to improve forecasting, cash flow, and operational efficiency.
  • Serve as the escalation point for tough recoveries and partner with Disputes and Underwriting on shared account risk.
  • Document collections processes and safeguard against errors, losses, and financial risk (SOC 1, SOX).
  • Bring AI tools into collections to automate correspondence, triage cases, and surface patterns in delinquency data.
  • Partner across Finance, Risk, Sales, Operations, and Engineering, and represent collections in cross-functional risk reviews.

About you:
  • 5+ years in collections, accounts receivable, or related fintech or accounting roles, including managing high-volume receivables.
  • Experience leading or mentoring a team.
  • Strong grasp of collections processes, billing platforms, and financial compliance standards (SOC 1, SOX a plus).
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving skills, with advanced Excel or Google Sheets.
  • Experience with CRM or ERP systems like Salesforce and Workday.
  • Clear communicator who can manage relationships and expectations across teams.
  • Hands-on experience using AI tools to automate or optimize your workflows.
  • Bonus: SaaS, fintech, or payments experience, familiarity with processor platforms like TSYS or Adyen, and a Bachelor's in Finance or Accounting, or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging AI tools and technologies to improve workflows, enhance decision-making, or drive innovation.

Additional InformationThe annual salary range for this position is $85,000 to $115,000. The salary range for performing this role outside of the US / Austin / California may differ. 8am is committed to offering competitive, fair and commensurate compensation and has provided an estimated pay range for this role. Actual compensation may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and education.

  • Time for what matters: Flexible Time Off, paid holidays, and a parental leave program for our new parents.
  • Wellness: Wellness stipends, mental health support, and one-on-one nutrition coaching.
  • Learning and Development: Continuous learning through 8am.edu, leadership programs, professional development funds, and individually focused talent development.
