HAVENWYCK HOSPITAL (a UHS facility)

Havenwyck Hospital is a Joint Commission-accredited and licensed psychiatric hospital, overlooking Lake Galloway in Auburn Hills, Michigan. We specialize in providing comprehensive, compassionate behavioral health services to children, adolescents and adults. It is the ultimate goal of our dedicated staff to build strength, confidence and knowledge within each patient, in hopes that they may continue learning and understanding their needs and practicing self-care for the rest of their lives.

Havenwyck Hospital is seeking a dynamic and talented Clinical Services Manager to join our team of compassionate and dedicated clinical professionals.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Clinical Services Manager coordinates and oversees the delivery of hospital clinical services and case management services. They provide clinical supervision, coordination, and leadership to staff under the direction of the Director of Clinical Services. The Clinical Services Manager is responsible for the maintenance of the clinical services standards of practice, and aids with quality initiatives, clinical planning, and program coordination with other hospital departments. T his position will consult with all services to ensure the provision of an effective treatment plan for all patients, oversees the response to requests for services and may interface with managed care organizations, external reviewers, and other payers.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Provides individual and group supervision to staff to ensure that high quality clinical services are provided to patients.
  • Ensures clinical records are accurate, timely and meet regulatory requirements.
  • Provides clinical oversight of treatment planning and crisis management of patients.
  • Provides direct social work services including evaluation, treatment planning, discharge planning & case management to patients & their families as ductated by the staffing needs of the department.
  • Provides direction and assists with management of difficult and/or complex patient discharge plans.
  • Provides ongoing clinical supervision, including licensure-required supervision to clinical staff, including Social Work interns.
  • Develops policies and procedures to support social work, case management initiatives, quality outcomes and related performance improvement activities.
  • Provides clinical consultation to other treatment team providers as requested.
  • Evaluates work performance and other relevant factors of all social workers periodically, and at least annually, in writing.
  • Serves as liaison between the hospital and the community to integrate services, coordinate care for patients and enhance working relationships through public relation activities.
  • Manages calls during off hours as needed regarding clinical services and coverage issues.
  • Conducts department meetings on a regularly scheduled basis and maintains open communication through regular rounding and one to one meeting with employees. Collaborates with outside providers to coordinate in-service and leaning opportunities for staff.
  • Oversees department scheduling for social work to maintain appropriate staffing levels that align with census needs and departmental budget, including scheduling of PRN staff and full-time staff, group scheduling, and management of PTO and corresponding coverage.
  • Oversees the timekeeping of the department and submits approvals and changes to payroll in a timely fashion.
  • Develops team building initiatives to engage staff and works collaboratively within the Clinical Services department, and across departments to build a positive team dynamic.
  • Assists the Director of Clinical Services in interviewing as needed.
  • Assists in directing the response to requests for services, including the initial response, the assessment and referral process, the designation of appropriate level of care, initiating of services, and follow up activity.
  • Assists in reviewing the effectiveness of the comprehensive interface with external reviewers, communicates with external reviewers and managed care organizations to assure timely and appropriate interactions, monitor outcomes of the reviews, and provide consultation as needed
  • Operates from a trauma-informed perspective and utilizes an open, non-judgmental, non-discriminatory, professional, and therapeutic approach to all patients, families, visitors, employees, and all other contacts. Demonstrates professional behavior and interpersonal skills reflective of facility mission statement and philosophy.
  • Maintains an awareness of community and market-related activities which includes knowledge of the activities of other providers, needs of local payers and the political climate related to mental health.
  • Assists in developing and maintain a system to minimize and address denials in consult with the facility Business Office Manager and CFO.
  • Administrates and enforces all hospital policies on a fair and consistent basis.

Qualifications

  • Master of Social Work degree from a school of Social Work accredited by the Council of Social Work Education required.
  • Current License in the State of Michigan as a Fully Licensed Social Worker (LMSW) required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a Leadership role required.
  • Knowledge of or experience with patients' rights, advanced directives, adult and child abuse laws and reporting required.
  • Experience with patient assessments, family motivation, treatment planning and collaboration with external review organizations (managed care, Medicare, Medicaid) or comparable entities.
  • Experience with care management model of service delivery as well as substance abuse treatment in acute care settings strongly preferred.
  • Working experience in an inpatient psychiatric hospital preferred.
