Full Job Description
This summary provides a listing of the knowledge, skills, and abilities that are critical components of the position of Senior Manager Charter Services.

General

This is an FLSA-exempt, not eligible for overtime, full-time position responsible for leading the company's Charter Services. This includes oversight of all ground handling, catering, fueling, airport permits, and management of the associated contracts, costs, and budgets. The successful candidate will find tremendous personal enjoyment and fulfillment in managing a multi-faceted operation against varying and demanding requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Guides a small team of Charter Coordinators who make ground handling arrangements on a day-to-day basis for charter flying.
    • Assists the Charter Coordinator(s) in resolving issues or challenges and may also assist by making ground handling arrangements for specific flights.
    • Maintains continuous surveillance of total Charter Services, looking for financial and operational trends that serve as indicators of cost-savings or performance-improvement opportunities, developing and implementing processes for such improvements.


  • Works with Finance on reporting mechanisms and financial analysis of charter flight costs
  • After identifying locations that Eastern serves regularly with charter flights, establishes relationships with airport authorities and ground handlers at those locations and seeks to implement negotiated contract rates with those providers and locations so as to reduce costs.
  • As Eastern begins Charter Services to new operating areas (Asia Pacific, Latin America), identifies ground operations opportunities and challenges for those areas, and conducts research to identify potential handlers and contact information for airport authorities, providing feedback to company executives and direction to the Charter Coordinator(s)
    • Works actively to protect Eastern's financial interests through negotiation, always ensuring the best pricing for all purchased services.


Education, Qualification, and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or airline-related trade school preferred;
    • Must have at least two (2) years working for a Part 121 or Part 135 airline, with at least one year of previous leadership experience - preferably above and below wing;
      • Must have expert knowledge of airline security requirements, service standards, catering operations, cargo loading procedures, and FAA, DOT, or other airline/airport governmental agency regulations;
      • Experience with widebody aircraft required;
        • Ability to communicate concisely and accurately with people from different companies, cultures, and organizational levels
        • Ability to engage and build relationships with people from diverse nationalities and cultural backgrounds
          • Ability to work with minimal supervision, taking appropriate decisions as needed to ensure operational integrity.
  • Must display an impeccable level of professionalism at all times, as well as a positive and proactive approach to resolving issues in extremely time-sensitive situations;
    • Ability to travel occasionally (up to 30%);
    • Must be able to work weekends and holidays
    • Possess and maintain a valid Driver's License;
