LOCATION: Lancaster, PA - Lancaster General Hospital

HOURS: Full Time. Monday-Friday, days. No weekends.

Summary:

Under the direction of the Director, the Manager is responsible for assessing, planning, and providing support to Case Managers, Support Center Staff, and Utilization Coordinators in the Case Management department. Works closely with the Director in coordinating the daily activities of the case management department regarding overall clinical development, implementation and supervision of care management services to our patients and families

Qualified individuals must have the ability with or without reasonable accommodation to perform the following duties:
  • Provides clinical oversight to the case management staff. Responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the team and coordination of department needs which include timecards, benefit records, interviews, hiring, training, coaching and mentoring in coordinating case management activities across the continuum.
  • Assists clinical teams with ongoing processes, meeting strategic goals and special projects.
  • Promotes individual and department development and assists staff in maintaining educational requirements. Supervises all clinical activities related to patient care, establishing standards of care and documentation of such.
  • Provides clinical guidance and assesses employee competency and maintains ongoing record of staffs' performance and documentation including solicitation of input from others and completes department performance review processes.
  • Assists the Director with department budget needs. Maintains procedures and data quality monitoring plans and prepares reports.
  • Monitors data quality and productivity. Works with the Director to set quality and productivity standards, reports, and takes corrective action where appropriate.
  • Participates in the building of systems and processes to most effectively manage healthcare consumer needs (information systems, marketing, quality, and utilization management).
  • Collects objective data with regard to the clinical performance, behavior and self-development of each staff member.
The following duties are considered secondary to the primary duties listed above:
  • Develops working relationship with all inpatient nursing unit managers, their staff, and physicians to provide foundation for efficient case management services.
  • Works closely with Physician Advisors to oversee and coordinate utilization management functions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • An RN or Social Worker is required for this role, with specific requirements being one of the following:
    • Current RN license, issued by the PA Board of Nursing and bachelor's degree in nursing BSN OR
    • A related health care degree OR master's degree in social work MSW from an accredited school or program.
  • Three 3 years of experience with utilization management
  • Three 3 years of experience in acute care or health insurance environment.
  • Three 3 years of experience working with physicians, staff and executive staff.
  • Two 2 years of experience leading or managing others.
  • Certification in Case Management or must obtain within one year of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:

  • Five 5 years clinical hospital experience.
  • Management experience in nursing or related healthcare position.
