Full Job Description
Our Broadband Product Management team is at the forefront of building the customer-facing products and experiences that will continue to fuel our expansion in internet services for homes and businesses.

The 'Manager, Product Management' role at T-Mobile is a player-coach. You lead a team of Product Managers and you are accountable for three things: the quality of the work they produce, the growth of the people producing it, and the business outcomes their products deliver. You set the bar on product thinking, coach your team through ambiguity and hard trade-offs, and hold the performance standard rather than simply supporting it. Your success is measured by how good your team is, not by how much you personally ship.

Each day in the life of a Manager, Product Management is different, ranging from coaching a Product Manager through a roadmap or a difficult prioritization call, reviewing requirements and customer research before they reach leadership, running 1:1s and development conversations, clearing blockers with engineering and cross-functional partners, and representing your team's work to Director and VP stakeholders. Our Managers build bridges by aligning and effectively communicating across a broad range of stakeholders, and they build teams by hiring well and developing the people they already have.

This is a hybrid position required to be working in-office at least 3 days a week.

Responsibilities:

People Leadership & Team Development:
  • Lead and develop a team of 3 to 5 Product Managers, owning the full performance lifecycle from goal setting and reviews to development plans and performance improvement.
  • Conduct regular 1:1s and provide timely, specific, and actionable feedback to every direct report.
  • Act with courage on underperformance by naming gaps clearly and managing them formally, rather than allowing low performance to become normalized on the team.
  • Own hiring, onboarding, capacity planning, and team structure while building a strong pipeline of cross-skilled, autonomous PMs ready for advancement.
  • Coach the team in core product management practices, including prioritization, trade-off decisions, requirements quality, and stakeholder management.

Product Vision & Strategy:
  • Raise the quality of product vision, roadmaps, and backlogs across the team by providing clear review, coaching, and direction.
  • Partner with leadership to define team strategy and goals, then connect that vision to organizational and company objectives through measurable business outcomes.
  • Model evidence-based decision making by reviewing quantitative and qualitative analysis for rigor.
  • Make and defend prioritization and trade-off calls across competing product areas.
  • Stay current on emerging technology trends to identify innovation opportunities.
  • Collaborate and influence without authority across stakeholder teams, partners, and vendors.

Voice of the Customer:
  • Champion a customer-driven and 'customer first' mindset across the team.
  • Coach the team on customer research methods and Voice of the Customer practice, and ensure customer-centric rituals are part of the team's cadence.
  • Ensure customer insight, rather than opinion, drives product vision, strategy, and priority.

Shipping Products:
  • Own the team's delivery quality and performance against product KPIs and OKRs, ensuring capacity and bandwidth are aligned to strategic goals.
  • Guide backlog quality and structure so development teams consistently receive ready, well-formed work, while proactively removing blockers before they escalate.
  • Partner with Architecture and development teams to ensure technical debt and long-term technical investment are factored into your team's planning.
  • Drive operational excellence and consistency in how your team writes requirements, runs betas and pilots, and measures product health.

Stakeholder Leadership:
  • Represent the Product Management team in cross-functional leadership forums and escalation paths.
  • Bridge team deliverables and manage escalations from the team to leadership.
  • Build and maintain working relationships across Engineering, Marketing, Commercial, Legal, Finance, other internal and external stakeholder, and GTM partners on behalf of the team.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Budget Management
  • Business Acumen
  • Coaching
  • Data Analysis
  • Executive Leadership
  • People Management
  • Product Management
  • Product Portfolio Management
  • Stakeholder Management
  • Strategic Thinking

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of related work experience, or advanced degree with 1 year of related work experience, or combination of education and experience deemed equivalent. Acceptable areas of study include Computer Science, Engineering, IT or related field. Advanced degree preferred.
  • 4+ years of proficient ability in a product management role, with a focus on building technology products.
  • 3+ years directly managing Product Managers, a demonstrated record of formally developing, evaluating, and growing Product Managers.
  • Demonstrated ability to hold a performance bar: setting clear expectations, giving direct feedback, and addressing underperformance formally.
  • Proactive and growth mindset with Product Lifecycle Management experience in delivering large and complex business/technology initiatives.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience and success in large and highly cross-functional organizations to drive product growth.
  • Consistent ability to align and influence at the Director and VP level without escalation.
  • Ability to objectively leverage quantitative and qualitative analysis to evaluate the benefits and risks of products progressing through the product development pipeline.
  • A proven track record of and a desire to operate in a greenfield environment, building new frameworks, and processes. Make decisions quickly and iterate as you learn and progress.
  • Excellent writing, visual, and verbal communication skills and the ability to break down complex problems into smaller, manageable pieces or compelling narratives while employing a high degree of collaboration and influence.
  • An understanding of the technical, design, and UX implications of your team's functional requirements.
  • Experience in Product MVP development, innovation, and/or strategic initiatives, including working with marketing, engineering, and other cross-functional partners.
  • At least 18 years of age, and legally authorized to work in the United States

Licenses and Certifications:
  • Product Owner Certification (CSPO) or Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) preferred
