Position: Manager, Automation Engineering
Job Location: 811 Excellence Dr, Bentonville, AR 72716
Duties: Data and Digital Literacy: Leverages data analysis tools to explore moderately complex data, develops & tests hypotheses, uses data to influence strategic work, and builds/presents insights; identifies, implements, and drives technological change within scope of work; uses visualization tools to represent data & constructs coherent stories to influence decisions. Process Flow Design: Interprets information to quantify the anticipated outcome of supply chain decisions. Describes the typical tasks associated w/using & managing suppliers; examines, interprets, and explains workflow materials and documentation; analyzes a process and associated business logic and offers recommendations based on analysis. Business Acumen: Supports development of business cases/recommendations; owns delivery of project activity/tasks; supports process updates/changes. Influential Communication: Presents to/influences team and business partners; utilizes relevant data & fact-based information to articulate results/provide recommendations. Continuous Improvement: Implements ideas for process improvement & identify main processes; apply concept of continuous improvement to identify opportunities for greater efficiency. Engineering Economics: Identifies major types of financial data utilized by the organization; explains how financial data is accessed and the types of information used in engineering; develops a business case. Automation System Design: Identifies areas for usage of automation machinery; assesses tasks for automation potential; obtains information about alternative automation solutions; assists w/analyzing space/cost requirements associated with machinery usage; identifies issues & provides resolutions to problems related to automation machinery. Automation Integration: Identifies common issues & considerations for bringing a new automation design to a facility; works w/teams to measure and manage project performance; documents implementation plans and estimates for projects; participates in development of technology interfaces and bridges; works w/ interfaces and integration and migration plans within assigned area; prepares integration tests; measures & compares results with established test criteria. Talent Management: Identifies key roles/responsibilities in the group and the career ladder for assigned function. Project Management: Plans/estimates projects under guidance; produces project status reports; obtains information from stakeholders during project planning stage; assists in detailed project plans, including costs, schedules, and resource requirements; provides input for Gantt/PERT charts to track project progress/status; manages multiple projects with varying timelines simultaneously. Operational Excellence: Explains operational functions/key functional roles of assigned department or unit; clarifies the role of each department or unit and its relevance to the enterprise strategy, describes the interdependence of support functions/line operating functions; identifies primary operational functions. Partnership and Collaboration: Analyzes stakeholder needs & partners w/stakeholders to share information. Mechatronics: Updates existing CAD drawings based on requirements; identifies functions/features of design/visualization system; navigates & troubleshoots control systems; identifies electrical design concepts and techniques used in supply chain; demonstrates knowledge of wiring schematics, ensuring they meet requirements and are compliant; describes common mechanical components of Distribution Center and Fulfillment Center equipment; names basic tools or technologies used in mechanical engineering. Advanced Analytics: Explains key concepts/features of data analysis methods; explores, compiles, and manipulates data using various tools; analyzes data & computes descriptive statistics that identify trends/outliers/correlations. Position may work at various unanticipated Walmart locations throughout the U.S.
Minimum education and experience required: Master's degree or the equivalent in Engineering or related field; OR Bachelor's degree or the equivalent in Engineering or related field plus 2 years of experience in engineering, supply chain, or related experience.
Skills required:Must have experience with: Managing resource planning and allocation within the scope of project management; Enhancing material flow via simulation models of assembly lines or comparable manufacturing systems; Creating Excel-based algorithms to optimize throughput automation processes based on various parameters; Performing statistical analysis on supply and demand data and generating time series forecasts for production/operations; Developing Standard Operating Procedures and Process Flow Charts using workflow optimization tools (5S, Poka-yoke and Kaizen); Assembling automation systems and integrating electrical equipment, including programmable logic controllers (PLCs), variable frequency drives (VFDs), and intermediate distribution frames (IDFs), into automated machine designs; Testing automation machines using ignition and HMI screen interface automation systems; Operating and managing automation systems; Utilizing programming languages (R, VBA and SQL) to perform historical data analysis; Collaborating with engineering and design teams to develop technical drawings using AutoCAD or equivalent CAD platforms. Employer will accept any amount of experience with the required skills.
Salary Range: $95,202.00 - 180,000.00/year. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance incentives. Additional compensation for certain positions may also include: Regional Pay Zone (RPZ) (based on location) and Stock equity incentives
