Responsibilities

  • Partner with the CLS site manager to manage personnel and develop sustainment projects.
  • Act as the central point for all CLS sustainment efforts.
  • Coordinate with customers and stakeholders on project constraints and risks.
  • Track and report on aircraft maintenance status and requirements.
  • Serve as the liaison between outside agencies and maintenance support.
  • Direct employees on Action Requests for maintenance outside planned tasks.
  • Collaborate on maintenance schedules, surges, and support modifications.

Are you ready to put your experience to work at Northrop Grumman? If so, Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems (NGAS), F-35 Sustainment FRST Operating Unit, has an opening for a Manager Aircraft Maintenance 1 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals.

You will be assigned as a Manager Aircraft Maintenance 1 supporting F-35 organizational maintenance at MCAS Beaufort, SC. Your Mission will be to support Organizational-Level maintenance on the F-35.

Your duties and responsibilities include (but not limited to):

  • Partnering with the Contract Logistics Support (CLS) site manager to lead and manage personnel, develop projects, programs, and procedures for CLS sustainment operations.
  • Functioning as the focal point for all sustainment efforts by the CLS team.
  • Assisting the CLS lead in coordinating with customer and support agencies on all constraints and risks that affect critical path milestones.
  • Developing, tracking, updating, and reporting all aircraft status products/requirements for contracted work.
  • Being a point of contact to outside agencies for all aspects relating to maintenance support, resources, and special tooling.
  • Directing employees to initiate Action Requests (AR) for work outside the scope of planned maintenance tasks, tracking cradle-to-grave actions, and reporting them to integration/agile cell.
  • Collaborating with Product Support Manager, CLS lead, Lockheed Martin Quality Assurance, and Lockheed Martin site lead on maintenance surges and schedule changes to support modifications and CLS operations.
  • Participating in maintenance meetings with the unit or coordinating maintenance status briefings at the customer's request.
  • Conducting safety briefings and addressing/resolving problematic maintenance complexities that arise in the completion of maintenance actions.

Basic Qualifications:
  • A High School diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 9 years' experience supervising and assigning program workloads as well as duties for entire shifts of workers performing aircraft maintenance repair, inspection, and modifications.
  • Will consider a bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of direct relevant experience; or, a master's degree and 3 years of experience.
  • One year minimum as a Maintenance or Production Control Supervisor.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical data and blueprint drawings.
  • Must be a US citizen.
  • A current Secret or higher Clearance.
  • Ability to obtain Special Access Program clearance, as required.
  • Ability to provide temporary support to our other CLS locations and/or emerging deployments.
  • Ability to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, holidays, and weekends and support on call status for 24 hours-a-day, 7 days-a-week, 365 days a year. The selected candidate must be willing to work various shifts depending on business needs, including but not limited to: Day shift, Night shift, Mid Shift, and Weekend Shift and overtime when required.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with working multiple aircraft and programs.
  • Lead Production/Maintenance Control Supervisor experience.
  • Experience forecasting manpower requirements, creating staffing plans, and creating Bill of Materials (BOM) to support future work efforts.
  • Highly skilled in using MS Excel, Power Point, Word, etc.
  • Experience identifying and procuring consumables, hazardous materials (HAZMAT), tooling, and spare parts required for specific operations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • F-35 Aircraft Maintenance and Operations Experience.
  • Prior Military Aviation and Aircraft Operations experience.


Primary Level Salary Range: $90,300.00 - $135,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
