About the Position The Manager, Accounting is a new position for Prime Coalition and will join the Finance & Operations Department reporting directly to the Director, Finance. In your role, you will be pivotal to Prime Coalition's daily accounting workflows, ensuring every transaction is accurate and policy-compliant.
This position is for someone with a strong accounting foundation who is comfortable working across multiple systems, handling and reconciling detailed financial data, supporting financial reporting used by leadership, and supporting the Director, Finance to ensure grantor, audit, and tax deliverables are accurate, complete, and well-supported.
Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:General Accounting - 40%- Accurate recording and consolidation of all financial transactions and financial notes for Prime Coalition and its disregarded entities in accordance with GAAP and IRS regulations, including:
- Recording financial transactions accurately against required dimensions, including restrictions and project codes
- Calculating and recording journal entries for monthly allocations, following approved methodologies
- Recording the financial transactions of all of Prime Coalition's investment programs, including assets, liabilities, interest accruals, cash management, and returns for Prime Coalition's catalytic investments
- Recording inter-company transactions
- Delivering detailed data reconciliations and analytical support to the Director, Finance
- Ensuring accounting data is accurate and ready for monthly, quarterly, or annual reconciliations
- Maintain secure file locations for all accounting-related documents
- Support Director, Finance to track assigned KPIs
- Support Director, Finance with the day-to-day operations of Prime Coalition's catalytic investing program
- Support Director, Finance to maintain up-to-date employee training decks for accounting processes
Accounts Payable & Receivable - 35%- Oversee the accounts payable platforms, including:
- Ensuring proper coding, approval workflows, and documentation
- Timely processing of payables and payments
- Managing employee expense process
- Support Director, Finance to ensure revenue and receivables entries meet GAAP and IRS regulations and documentation is audit ready
- Support monthly reconciliation between financial software and CRM/fundraising software
Audit, Tax, & Compliance - 20%- Assist in preparing schedules and supporting documentation for the annual audit
- Support tax preparation process, including supporting schedules for Form 990 and state filings
- Maintain documentation in a format that supports audit readiness
- Issue annual 1099 Forms and 1042-S Forms per IRS regulations
- Support Director, Finance to ensure compliance with statutory law and financial regulations

Qualifications Education & Required Experience- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, taxation, or related field and 4-7 years of progressive responsibility in finance, accounting, or tax experience; or 7-10 years of equivalent professional experience
- Proficiency with accounting software(s) (Sage Intacct preferred) and banking platforms
- Strong foundation in accounting principles, including general ledger accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and financial reporting
- Experience supporting finance and accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, month-end close activities, and financial recordkeeping
- Demonstrated ability to maintain accurate, complete, and well-supported financial records with a high degree of attention to detail
- Advanced proficiency in Google Sheets and/or Microsoft Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, lookups, and data reconciliation
- Ability to independently manage recurring processes and deadlines while maintaining accuracy, consistency, and strong internal controls
- Strong organizational, prioritization, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously
Preferred Experience- Experience supporting audit or tax preparation processes
- Demonstrated understanding of non-profit accounting related to 501(c)3 organizations
- Familiarity with investment-related transactions, reconciliations, valuations, or reporting
- Experience working with Sage Intacct, Emburse Nexonia, Raiser's Edge NXT, or similar platforms
- Experience using technology to improve workflows, reduce manual steps, and strengthen documentation and reporting
- Demonstrated fluency in financial statements and accounting procedures
