Duties

  • Provide analysis and assessment of enterprise-wide Defense Health Agency initiatives for the Defense Health Agency Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) Office.
  • Manage complex Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests requiring interpretation of statutory requirements, case law, and agency regulations to ensure accurate, timely, and legally sufficient responses.
  • Conduct record searches and perform detailed line-by-line review of sensitive records.
  • Apply Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) exemptions with precision.
  • Prepare defensible rationales that balance transparency with protection of sensitive information.
  • Draft clear, concise, and well-structured correspondence and closure memoranda that articulate the basis for release or withholding decisions, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and full documentation of the FOIA life cycle.

Specialized Experience GS-0343-13 Management and Program Analyst: One year of specialized experience which includes assisting in the interpretation of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, creating various types of correspondence detailing the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) life cycle, and advising leadership on Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) program policies and regulatory compliance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).
