Description

To support operations in Comox, British Columbia, CAE is seeking an experienced maintenance leader to oversee teams responsible for the preventive and corrective maintenance of training equipment and simulator systems. This role is accountable for ensuring equipment availability, reliability, and performance in alignment with contractual Performance Based Accountability (PBA) requirements and key operational metrics.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead maintenance teams responsible for preventive and corrective maintenance activities on training equipment, hardware, and software systems.
  • Provide leadership and guidance in troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues across a variety of technologies, including computer systems, networking, audio/video distribution systems, avionics, hydraulic systems, visual systems, and related training devices.
  • Ensure training devices remain operational, reliable, and available to support internal and external customers.
  • Identify, track, analyze, and report recurring and potential system issues.
  • Collaborate with technical experts and stakeholders to develop and implement corrective actions and long-term solutions.
  • Utilize maintenance management systems and databases to document and track maintenance activities, repairs, testing, validation activities, and parts inventory.
  • Schedule maintenance personnel to ensure appropriate shift coverage and uninterrupted support of training operations.
  • Establish work priorities to support required Training Availability Window targets and contractual availability and reliability objectives.
  • Monitor operational performance metrics, including downtime, lost training time, and equipment availability.
  • Coordinate corrective and preventive maintenance activities to ensure compliance with company policies, contractual requirements, and applicable provincial legislation.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system reliability, team effectiveness, and operational performance.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in a leadership role with responsibility for multiple direct reports.
  • Technical college diploma in Electronics, Aviation Technology, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and ten (10) years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management experience in a technical or operational environment.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience troubleshooting and supporting complex hardware and software systems.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Canadian Security Clearance.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain Controlled Goods Program registration.
  • Eligibility to work in Canada as a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or holder of a valid work permit.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience as a Simulator Technician.
  • Experience in Information Technology (IT) or software systems integration.
  • Experience supporting CAE simulators or equivalent training devices.
  • Experience working within military, aviation, simulation, defence, or training environments.
  • Experience managing maintenance operations supporting performance-based contracts or service-level commitments.

Base Pay Range

Our total rewards package includes base pay and benefits, with final compensation determined by experience, skill, location, and internal equity.
