MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR (1st Shift) - HOOPESTON, IL.

  • Target Salary = $90,000 to $100k
  • Shift = Rotational


OVERVIEW:

The Maintenance Supervisor plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient operation of machinery and equipment within the manufacturing facility. Reporting directly to the Maintenance Manager, this position leads a team of maintenance technicians to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to minimize downtime and maintain product quality and safety standards.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Supervise and lead a team of maintenance technicians, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure optimal performance and productivity. 

  • Plan and prioritize maintenance activities, including preventive maintenance schedules, work orders, and equipment inspections, to minimize production interruptions and downtime. 

  • Coordinate with production and other departments to schedule maintenance tasks and ensure minimal impact on production schedules. 

  • Conduct regular inspections of machinery, equipment, and facilities to identify issues, defects, or potential hazards and implement corrective actions as needed. 

  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform repairs or coordinate repairs with external vendors to restore functionality in a timely manner. 

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, equipment performance, and spare parts and supplies inventory. 

  • Implement and enforce safety protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and industry standards. 

  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Manager to develop and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability, efficiency, and performance. 

  • Monitor and control maintenance expenses within budgetary constraints by optimizing resources and minimizing waste. 

  • Provide regular reports to the Maintenance Manager on maintenance activities, equipment performance, and adherence to maintenance schedules and KPIs. 

  

WHAT YOU'LL NEED:
  • High school diploma or equivalent;

  • Proven experience in maintenance operations, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role, preferably in a food manufacturing environment. 

  • Strong technical knowledge and troubleshooting skills in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. 

  • Experience with preventive maintenance programs, root cause analysis, and reliability-centered maintenance practices. 

  • Leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse workforce. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with cross-functional teams and external vendors. 

  • Familiarity with food safety regulations and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) standards. 

  • Proficiency in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and Microsoft Office Suite. 

  • Ability to work flexible hours and respond to maintenance emergencies outside of regular business hours.


WHAT WE'D LIKE TO SEE:
  • Associate's degree or technical certification in mechanical, electrical, or related field preferred. 

  • Certification in maintenance management or related field (e.g., Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional) is a plus.
