Position Overview:

As part of the talented Boston Whaler team, the Maintenance Supervisor III is a senior frontline maintenance leader responsible for ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and performance of manufacturing equipment, facilities, and supporting systems within a high-volume marine manufacturing environment. This role leads a team of maintenance technicians and skilled trades employees while driving preventative and predictive maintenance strategies that maximize equipment uptime, minimize downtime, and support uninterrupted production operations.

The Maintenance Supervisor III provides technical leadership and hands-on problem solving for complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems. This position is accountable for equipment reliability, maintenance planning, asset management, facility upkeep, and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, productivity, and operational performance.

The ideal candidate is a proactive maintenance professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, excels at troubleshooting and root cause analysis, and is passionate about developing maintenance teams while implementing best practices that improve equipment performance and extend asset life. This role partners closely with Operations, Engineering, and Facilities teams to ensure Boston Whaler's manufacturing equipment and infrastructure operate safely, efficiently, and reliably.

Essential Functions:
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of maintenance technicians and skilled trades employees, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, equipment reliability, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage employee performance, attendance, development planning, and employee relations activities, including coaching and corrective actions in alignment with company policy.
  • Own and drive Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to equipment uptime, reliability, maintenance costs, and productivity through data analysis, root cause problem-solving, and structured action planning.
  • Partner with Operations and Engineering to establish and execute maintenance strategies aligned with production and business objectives.
  • Lead capital projects, equipment upgrades, facility improvements, and infrastructure initiatives, ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
  • Lead troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and corrective actions for complex equipment failures and recurring downtime events across production systems.
  • Develop, implement, and sustain preventative and predictive maintenance programs that maximize equipment performance, reliability, and asset life.
  • Manage maintenance planning, spare parts inventory, resource allocation, and work prioritization to support production requirements.
  • Establish and manage vendor and contractor relationships, including service agreements, performance expectations, and cost control.
  • Oversee facility maintenance, utilities, and infrastructure to ensure a safe, efficient, and compliant manufacturing environment.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives that eliminate waste, improve maintenance effectiveness, and reduce operational costs.
  • Ensure all equipment, facilities, and maintenance activities meet safety, environmental, and regulatory compliance standards.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Operations, Quality, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to support production goals and product quality.
  • Maintain leader standard work, ensure adherence to maintenance best practices, and drive consistent communication across shifts and functional areas.
  • Own and execute area-specific responsibilities as defined by scope documentation.


Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in maintenance operations within a manufacturing environment, preferably in marine, automotive, or similar industries.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of progressive leadership experience, with demonstrated success leading teams and driving operational improvements.
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Proven ability to analyze data, identify trends, and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Proficiency with PC-based software (e.g., Microsoft Excel, Word; CMMS systems preferred).
  • Flexible and willing to support multiple shifts as required to meet business needs.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Yellow Belt or higher) or equivalent continuous improvement training.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field preferred.
  • Experience in marine or fiberglass manufacturing environments is a plus.
  • Strong project management and change management capabilities.
  • Background with multi-shift operations and readiness (e.g. combat readiness ops, etc.) is an additive.


WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, elevated work areas, fumes, airborne particles, and occasional contact with chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is generally moderate to high. The role requires walking, standing, climbing, and the ability to respond to maintenance issues on the production floor

The hiring range for this position is $70,600-$101, 800 annually. The actual base pay offered will vary based on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. Compensation decisions are dependent upon the specifics of the candidate's qualifications and the business context.

In addition to base pay, this position is eligible for an annual discretionary bonus.
