At Danone, our plant team play a vital role in producing high-quality products and ensuring reliable supply to meet customer demand. We are hiring a Maintenance Supervisor for our Chatsworth, CA manufacturing location. This role is responsible for leading and coordinating maintenance associates who repair, maintain, and install machinery, tools, equipment, building and grounds systems, and utilities.

Key Responsibilities:

As a key member of our team, you will play an important role in driving our mission forward. The following responsibilities outline the core expectations and contributions for this position:
  • Reviews work orders to determine work priorities. Schedules repair, maintenance, and installation of machines, tools, and equipment to ensure continuous production operations.
  • Coordinates worker activities related to fabricating or modifying machines, tools, or equipment to support new products or improve existing products.
  • Directs maintenance activities for utility systems to ensure a continuous supply of heat, steam, electric power, gas, or air required for operations.
  • Monitors and supports updates to the preventive maintenance program in partnership with the Plant Engineer and maintenance staff.
  • Reviews production, quality control, and maintenance reports and statistics with the Maintenance Manager to plan and adjust maintenance activities.
  • Works with the Plant Leadership Team to develop and implement methods and procedures that improve operations, minimize operating costs, and drive efficient use of labor and materials.
  • Oversees the procurement and availability of tools, equipment, and supplies required to support safe, efficient, and reliable operations.
  • Oversees department training, including new mechanic onboarding, equipment training, food safety compliance, department policies, and corporate policy awareness.
  • Confers with management, engineering, and quality control personnel to resolve maintenance issues and recommend improvements to operations, machines, and equipment.

Physical Demands:

This role requires standing, walking, and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. The employee must be able to stoop, kneel, distinguish colors accurately, and work on their feet for extended periods while wearing all required safety equipment.

Work Environment:

Work is performed in a manufacturing environment with exposure to moderate noise and temperature variations, and occasional outdoor conditions. Work schedules could include nights, weekends and/or holidays to provide the ability to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment as business needs dictate.

Ensure adherence to plant standards and procedures (including but not limited to GMP, AIB, FDA, IWS, Quality, Safety, Finance, ISO, HOPE, Danone Behaviors, Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE). As a fundamental piece of the organization, your responsibility is to participate and own the implementation and deployment of IWS system and its pillars (Leadership foundation, Daily Direction Setting, Driving OE; Autonomous Maintenance; planned Maintenance; Focused Improvement; Education and Training; Environmental, Health and Safety; Quality; Organization; Supply Network; Early Equipment Management) with the objective of owning your space, owning your performance (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Mobilization, Nature) and owning your continuous improvement.

Compensation & Benefits:

About You

Education & Experience:
  • Associate degree in a related technical field of industrial, electrical and maintenance required
  • Candidates without a completed degree may be considered with at least 4 additional years of directly related maintenance leadership experience in lieu of a degree.
  • 5 or more years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment, required.
  • Must have at least 3 years of supervisory or people management experience preferred.
  • Experience in food, beverage, or other regulated manufacturing environments with working knowledge of FSSC 22000, GMP, HACCP, and food safety requirements, required.
  • Experience using CMMS software, managing preventive maintenance programs, supervising maintenance personnel, and coordinating maintenance projects and contractors, required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and local, state, and federal health and safety regulations.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of industrial maintenance practices, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and process systems used in food manufacturing environments.
  • Working knowledge of food safety, FSSC 22000, GMP, HACCP, and regulatory compliance requirements, with the ability to ensure maintenance activities support audit readiness and product safety.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and develop unionized maintenance personnel, including work assignment, performance management, coaching, training, and labor relations.
  • Proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) for managing preventive maintenance programs, work orders, asset histories, inventory, labor utilization, and maintenance performance metrics.
  • Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize resources and drive timely resolution of equipment reliability and production issues.
  • Ability to manage maintenance projects, contractors, budgets, and procurement activities while ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and within established cost objectives.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to coordinate cross-functional activities, priorities, and resources to support safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations.
