Job Description

The primary role of the Maintenance Superintendent is the direct supervision and performance of underground and surface Maintenance Department activities. The Maintenance Superintendent is accountable for all mine maintenance operations and shall safely plan, organize, manage, execute, and evaluate maintenance operations while providing exceptional leadership and direction through coaching, mentorship and development with a focus on a safe and inclusive environment.

Responsibilities

1. Directs and coordinates all surface and underground maintenance activities.
2. Insures that the company's goals, objectives, and priorities are delivered and are in accordance with approved polices and procedures.
3. Responsible to ensure all required maintenance activities are planned and scheduled in a manner that
maximizes the efficiency of the assigned maintenance crews.
4. Ensure alignment of maintenance objectives with production objectives.
5. Ensure adequate resources are in place to execute work.
6. Accountable for ensuring that all equipment performance targets and work management KPIs are achieved within the constraints of the maintenance budget, including quality control, safety, and the delegation of work to field staff, contractors, and trades people .
7. Works with Senior Managers, other Superintendents, and their Maintenance Supervisors to ensure safe
equipment operations and maximizes reliability and minimize costs.
8. Responsible for all the personnel (including contractors), equipment, tools, spare parts, and materials in
the maintenance department area of responsibility.
9. Prepares and approves preventative maintenance and other plans, allocates work to their teams, oversee
progress, solve problems, and take corrective action when required.
10. Assist in the preparation and negotiation of budgets and controls spending.
11. Prepares reports and briefs on equipment, safety, progress on projects and other matters.
12. Lead and participate in meetings and briefings, both formal and informal.
13. Provides clarity and direction that supports the effective performance of several integrated operations or
functions in terms of timing, budget, and delivery options.
14. Manage a diverse group of trades including mechanical, electrical, and fixed plant.
15. Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with applicable codes, direct and follow-ups on any
required rework or modifications.
16. Relay departmental needs and performances to senior company and client management.
17. Coordinate resources with other departments to meet mutual goals.
18. Establishes and maintains a preventive maintenance program.
19. Plans and schedules work for the department ensuring proper distribution of assignments and adequate
staffing, space, equipment and supplies for adequate performance of duties.
20. Manages employee performance and adherence to the Company's policies and procedures.
21. Ensure that training is provided to meet with the current and future needs of the mine.
22. Participate in strategic planning meetings.
23. Investigates accidents, incidents, hazard identification and similar events to determine causes and
corrective action needed to prevent reoccurrence and completes the necessary reporting.
24. Ensures compliance with all Redpath USA Corporation and Owners safety regulations and procedures.
25. Accountable and responsible to ensure maintenance operations comply with applicable government
(OSHA, MSHA, EPA, etc.) legislative and corporate codes, practices, policies, standards, and specifications.
26. If required to operate a company vehicle during the course of employment, must meet the requirements
to be an eligible user of company vehicles. Must possess a current State Driver's License and acceptable driving record.
27. Responsible for ensuring and keeping work areas safe and free of hazards. Performs Field Level Risk
Assessments.
28. Ensure that workers are qualified and capable of safely performing assigned work.
29. Responsible for the hiring, evaluation, commendation, training, disciplinary action, and dismissals
regarding supervised staff.
30. Comply with daily, weekly and monthly safety directives, policies, and procedures.
31. Maintain confidentiality with respect to Redpath and client information.
32. Complies with and ensure compliance with Redpath's Policies and Procedures as detailed in the
appropriate manuals, handbooks, directives, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
33. Able to work in excess of 40 hours a week, overtime, day and nights, weekends, holidays and shift rotations.
34. Compliance with Redpath Core Competencies is an essential duty and responsibility.

Minimum Duties and Responsibilities:

Qualifications

Education:
1. Bachelor's degree in mining/mechanical/ electrical engineering or related field is preferred.

Work Experience:
1. Twelve (12) years of progressive maintenance experience in mine operations and/or engineering.
2. Ten (10) years in a managerial/supervisory capacity.
3. Preferred experience working with mining underground/heavy duty equipment and electrical operations
in a similar role.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
1. Must be able to demonstrate proper use and safe handling of tools, equipment and materials.
2. Knowledge of the mining industry underground environment
3. Ability to read and understand engineering prints (civil work, structural work, rock excavation work).
4. Knowledge and understanding of mine regulations pertaining to construction in mining.
5. Proficient in the use of computers and associated software.

1. Ability to pass background clearance check, drug screening and physical.
2. Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
