Position Summary: The Maintenance Superintendent II directs the activities of the Low Voltage, High Voltage and Instrumentation personnel within the Maintenance Department. Will be responsible for overseeing major repair projects pertaining to the wastewater treatment infrastructure, which includes the coordination of maintenance planning activities to ensure equipment availability, and the evaluation and recommendation of changes to improve equipment safety, reliability, performance and operating costs. Additional responsibilities will include improving organizational capabilities, optimizing processes, training personnel, management development, preparing and adhering to budgets, and improving the standards of performance for quality and safety.

Minimum Requirements

Requirements: Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English sufficiently to perform the duties of the position, including the planning, organizing, and assigning of work to subordinates. Must understand the methods and techniques applicable to work involving the repair and maintenance of various structures, motors, machinery and other mechanical equipment. Must be able to plan, organize and coordinate a preventive maintenance program, as well as prepare clear, sound, accurate and informative reports containing findings, conclusions and recommendations. Must have knowledge of the materials needed, and the procedures and methods used in inspecting, analyzing and determining major repair, construction and maintenance work. Must be skilled in interpreting and evaluating blueprints, drawings and specifications of technical data. Must be able to manage multiple priorities as well as develop and supervise work programs for employees performing low and high voltage electrical, instrumentation, and other types of maintenance and repair work. Must have knowledge of the treatment process, rigging heavy machinery, electrical equipment and tooling associated with maintenance tasks.

Experience: Eight (8) years of experience in general maintenance/construction operations associated with either a large wastewater treatment plant or a continuous process industry, of which five (5) years was in a management-level position supervising others in a broad range of industry maintenance tasks. Technical training or related experience may be substituted for some of the required years of experience.

Education: High school diploma, vocational school diploma, or equivalency certificate required, along with advanced training at a technical or trade school preferred.

License and/or Certifications: Must possess a valid New Jersey driver's license. Completion of the OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Safety and Health Training.

Physical Demands: Ability to perform the essential functions of the position with or without a reasonable accommodation to ensure the health and safety of oneself and others are maintained. This includes, but is not limited to, physical activities that require considerable use of the arms, legs and the whole body such as climbing (including ladders), kneeling, sitting, standing, working from elevated areas, lifting up to 50 lbs., balancing, walking, stooping, handling heavy objects, carrying, reaching, pushing, pulling, using a keyboard, and using tools, as well as manual dexterity and visual acuity, hearing and speaking. Must qualify for and possess the ability to perform entry into confined spaces while wearing proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as, but not limited to, canister and dust masks, as well as Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), in compliance with PVSC's Facial Hair Grooming Policy.

Working Conditions: Workers are employed in conditions associated with a wastewater treatment plant and sewer collection system and may be required to work indoors and outdoors depending upon the nature of the position.

The expected base pay range is $150,070 to $183,448. The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, education, training, and formal credentials.
