Full Job Description
The Maintenance & Reliability Manager is responsible for the leadership, development, and performance of the maintenance and reliability functions for the Memphis Mill. This role provides direction to mechanical, electrical, utilities, facilities, planning, and reliability resources to ensure safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of manufacturing assets.

The Maintenance & Reliability Manager partners closely with Operations, Safety, Quality, Procurement, and Operational Excellence teams to maximize asset availability, improve equipment reliability, reduce maintenance costs, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

The position is responsible for establishing and maintaining a proactive maintenance culture through effective work management, preventive and predictive maintenance programs, reliability-centered maintenance practices, spare parts management, and continuous improvement.

The Maintenance & Reliability Manager reports to the Assistant General Manager.

The position provides leadership to maintenance, reliability, facilities, utilities, and maintenance planning personnel.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Leadership & Culture
  • Lead and develop a high-performing maintenance and reliability organization.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure maintenance personnel are appropriately trained and qualified.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, employee development, and succession planning activities.
  • Support recruitment, selection, and retention of skilled maintenance personnel.
Maintenance Strategy & Execution
  • Manage the overall day-to-day activities of the Maintenance Department.
  • Establish maintenance priorities that align with operational objectives.
  • Ensure effective planning, scheduling, and execution of maintenance work.
  • Drive preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs.
  • Optimize maintenance resources to maximize equipment performance and mill reliability.
  • Coordinate planned shutdowns and asset outages.
Reliability Improvement
  • Lead site reliability initiatives focused on eliminating chronic equipment failures.
  • Utilize root cause analysis methodologies to identify and permanently resolve reliability issues.
  • Develop asset reliability strategies and lifecycle management plans.
  • Monitor key reliability indicators and implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Drive continuous improvement through reliability-centered maintenance practices.
CMMS & Work Management
  • Own and continuously improve the CMMS and maintenance work order system.
  • Ensure proper work identification, planning, prioritization, scheduling, execution, and closeout.
  • Establish and maintain maintenance KPI reporting.
  • Improve schedule compliance, PM compliance, and work execution effectiveness.
Asset & Spare Parts Management
  • Manage maintenance inventory and critical spare parts strategies.
  • Ensure spare part availability while optimizing inventory levels.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Procurement to improve parts management processes.
  • Develop long-term equipment replacement and asset preservation plans.
Budget & Cost Management
  • Develop and manage annual maintenance operating budgets.
  • Monitor and control maintenance expenditures.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction while maintaining equipment reliability.
  • Support capital planning activities and major maintenance initiatives.
Facilities & Utilities Oversight
  • Ensure effective maintenance and reliability of mill facilities and utility systems.
  • Support safe and efficient operation of critical utility assets including boilers, compressed air systems, water systems, and related infrastructure.
  • Ensure facility and utility systems comply with applicable regulations and company standards.
Safety, Environmental & Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, and site safety procedures.
  • Champion safe maintenance work practices.
  • Ensure environmental compliance requirements are understood and followed.
  • Participate in incident investigations and corrective action development.
  • Drive continuous improvement in maintenance safety performance.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Maintenance Management, or related technical discipline preferred.
Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of manufacturing maintenance experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of maintenance leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience leading maintenance and reliability teams in a continuous manufacturing operation preferred.
Technical Knowledge
  • Strong knowledge of CMMS systems and maintenance work management processes.
  • Knowledge of predictive and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Understanding of reliability engineering principles and root cause methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems, mechanical equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics, PLCs, drives, utilities, and industrial maintenance practices.
  • Experience with maintenance budgeting and KPI management.
