Maintenance Manager - Printing / Label Manufacturing
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to supervise and coordinate all activities related to maintaining and repairing building structures, printing presses, converting equipment, and plant utilities. This role directly manages the Maintenance Department and ensures work is completed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with organizational standards.
The Maintenance Manager plays a critical role in maintaining uptime, print quality, and production efficiency across flexographic, digital, and finishing operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead, supervise, and develop all Maintenance Department employees, including hiring, training, evaluating, coaching, and disciplinary actions
- Address employee concerns and ensure resolution in alignment with company policies
- Build and sustain team technical capability across electrical, mechanical, and printing systems
- Ensure proper staffing and coverage to support multi-shift operations
- Enforce and model all safety policies, procedures, and behaviors; promptly report safety concerns
- Administer and ensure compliance with safety programs (LOTO, machine guarding, confined space, chemical handling)
- Support environmental compliance programs, including air emissions, storm water, and waste handling regulations
- Direct and coordinate maintenance activities for machinery, equipment, and facility systems
- Establish and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance programs to maximize reliability
- Oversee maintenance and repair of printing presses (flexographic, screen, offset, gravure) and finishing equipment
- Minimize downtime and startup waste through rapid troubleshooting and root cause analysis
- Manage tools, equipment, spare parts, and maintenance supply requirements
- Train maintenance personnel on equipment operation, repair techniques, and safety standards
- Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with specifications, quality, and operational standards
- Collaborate with production, quality, and scheduling teams to optimize uptime and efficiency
- Maintain and troubleshoot critical systems including web handling, print registration, ink delivery, and drying/curing systems
- Maintain plant utilities (compressed air, chillers, HVAC, electrical distribution) and ensure environmental conditions meet production requirements
- Drive continuous improvement by analyzing downtime, supporting TPM/lean initiatives, improving uptime, reducing waste, controlling costs, maintaining CMMS records, and supporting special projects
Qualifications:
- Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school OR 5-8 years of relevant experience and/or training
- Engineering degree or equivalent preferred
- Experience in printing, packaging, or converting environment preferred
- Proven leadership experience in a manufacturing setting
- Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Experience with PLCs, servo drives, and automation systems
- Understanding of web handling and printing processes preferred
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, maintenance manuals, and technical documents
- Strong verbal communication and leadership skills
- Basic math skills including percentages, proportions, and geometry

The physical demands require standing, using hands to finger, feel and touch; reach with arms and hands; talk and hear.
This position requires frequent walking. Occasionally employee is required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Must be able to regularly lift or move up to 50 pounds.
