MAINTENANCE MANAGER - MANUFACTURING

POSITION SUMMARY

Hussey Copper is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance operations at our Leetsdale, PA manufacturing facility. This is a key plant leadership opportunity for an experienced maintenance professional who can strengthen equipment reliability, develop a high-performing maintenance team, reduce downtime, and drive continuous improvement across a complex industrial manufacturing operation.

The Maintenance Manager will oversee the maintenance and repair of plant equipment and machinery while partnering closely with Operations, Engineering, Safety, and plant leadership to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient production.

We are looking for a hands-on leader who is equally comfortable developing people, solving complex equipment problems, using data to improve performance, and building a more proactive maintenance operation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead, coach, train, and develop the maintenance team while building a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
• Oversee the maintenance and repair of plant equipment and systems, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and HVAC systems.
• Develop and strengthen preventive maintenance programs designed to improve equipment reliability, increase uptime, and reduce unplanned downtime.
• Provide technical leadership and guidance in troubleshooting complex equipment and machinery issues.
• Develop and implement maintenance procedures, troubleshooting guides, training matrices, standard maintenance work, and maintenance best practices.
• Identify recurring equipment issues and lead sustainable corrective actions.
• Read and interpret CAD and P&ID drawings to support troubleshooting, maintenance planning, and equipment improvements.
• Use maintenance data and performance trends to identify opportunities for improvement.
• Track and manage key maintenance performance indicators, including Equipment Availability/Uptime, Preventive Maintenance Compliance, Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), Planned vs. Unplanned Downtime, and Work Order Efficiency.
• Participate in root cause problem solving, including 8D methodology, to address equipment and operational issues.
• Manage the maintenance budget, including salaried and hourly labor, outside services, and repair and maintenance expenses.
• Maintain appropriate controls around storeroom practices, critical spare parts, and maintenance resources.
• Partner closely with Maintenance and Operations Supervisors, Engineering, Operations leadership, and Plant Management to establish priorities and support production.
• Communicate maintenance progress, priorities, risks, and escalation needs effectively across the organization.
• Partner with HR and Union leadership as appropriate.

SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL STEWARDSHIP
• Promote a strong safety culture and ensure maintenance activities are performed in accordance with company safety policies, procedures, and requirements.
• Participate in HSE problem solving and support the immediate implementation of safe containment actions when concerns arise.
• Champion Environmental Stewardship by ensuring maintenance activities align with environmental policies, regulatory requirements, and responsible operating practices.
• Identify opportunities to reduce waste, prevent environmental impacts, promote responsible use of resources, and support compliance with applicable local, state, and federal environmental requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of maintenance management experience, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial environment.
• Proven experience leading, coaching, and developing maintenance teams.
• Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause problem-solving capabilities.
• Experience developing or managing preventive maintenance programs.
• Experience using maintenance KPIs and performance data to identify trends and drive improvements.
• Ability to read and understand CAD and P&ID drawings.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, Safety, HR, and plant leadership.
• Experience within copper production, metals, metal processing, heavy manufacturing, or a similar industrial environment is preferred.

Success in this role means building and maintaining a proactive, reliable, and continuously improving maintenance operation. The Maintenance Manager will help improve equipment reliability and uptime, strengthen preventive maintenance, reduce unplanned downtime, develop the capabilities of the maintenance team, and build strong collaboration across Maintenance, Operations, and Engineering.

This leader will also play an important role in ensuring safety and environmental responsibility remain central to how maintenance work is planned and performed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position is onsite at our Leetsdale, PA manufacturing facility and operates within an active industrial environment with moving mechanical equipment, varying temperatures, elevated noise levels, and heavy activity.

The position requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and perform activities involving standing, walking, bending, and lifting for extended periods. Required personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed footwear, must be worn as appropriate.
