Maintenance Manager to oversee daily maintenance activities and all Outage activities at the Linden Generating Station, a 1300 MW gas fired combined cycle plant located in Linden, NJ. This facility features four GE 7FA.04 gas turbines, and two D-11 steam turbine. The facility provides power to the PJM wholesale market
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Maintenance Manager leads a diverse team of 14 skilled professional and union-represented employees in maintaining fossil fuel power generation equipment to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations. This role encompasses team supervision, resource management, budget oversight, and strategic planning to drive operational excellence and achieve reliability and cost objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Supervise, support, and develop team members to foster a productive, inclusive, and compliant workforce.
- Plan and coordinate maintenance and outage activities, including work schedules, on-the-job training, and inspections, to ensure timely and high-quality execution.
- Manage procurement of tools, materials, and services, and oversee storeroom operations to align with inventory controls and business goals.
- Monitor and manage the maintenance budget, optimizing labor utilization, controlling costs, and minimizing overtime to meet financial targets.
- Ensure calibration, storage, and proper use of testing and measuring equipment while maintaining compliance with applicable standards and procedures.
- Collaborate on station and department strategic initiatives, supporting fleet-wide improvements and operational excellence goals.
- Streamline maintenance programs to enhance reliability, reduce costs, and align with organizational objectives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Plant Manager or senior leadership.
Requirements- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or 8-10 years of relevant power plant experience.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in power generation or outage management.
- At least 2 years of supervisory or managerial experience.
- PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred.
Required Competencies:- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or comparable software applications.
- Experience with Hexagon EAM or similar work management systems.
- Fundamental knowledge of budgeting and cost reporting.
- Technical expertise in industrial operations, with an emphasis on power generation equipment and processes.
- Familiarity with relevant State, Federal, and Local regulations affecting power plant operations.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects with competing priorities, balancing cost control and quality outcomes.
