Full Job Description
Based in Yosemite National Park, the Historic Preservation & Maintenance Manager validates, oversees, and leads maintenance projects in historic buildings and landscapes. The manager also oversees all maintenance and repair functions at The Ahwahnee hotel, a National Historic Landmark.

The Historic Preservation Maintenance Manager (HPMM) evaluates detailed work parameters; the skills, time, material, and equipment required; and the conditions and accessibility of the work site for each historic preservation project. The manager develops a preliminary schedule, cost estimate, and summary justification for the project for client (National Park Service) approval and ensures full compliance and completion of the on-demand process and approval criteria.

The HPMM coordinates the scheduling and implementation of the historic preservation work with team members, including on-site General Maintenance Staff, Regional Facility Maintenance Managers, and Regional Hotel Operations Managers. As work progresses, the manager submits status reporting on labor utilization, completion milestones, and cost. The HPMM is also responsible for supervising and managing all activities related to facility maintenance and engineering services at The Ahwhanee, a 121-room historic hotel.

The HPMM supervises and develops the skillset necessary for team members to advance in the field of Historic Preservation. Maintains current historic preservation knowledge to answer questions of other workers on historic preservation procedures, policies, written instructions, and other directives.

COMPENSATION: The salary range for this position ranges from $90,000 to $100,000, depending on circumstances including an applicant's skills and qualifications, certain degrees and certifications, prior job experience, market data, and other relevant factors. This is Aramark's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of compensation for this position as of the time of posting.

If hired, employee will be in an "at-will position" and Aramark reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time AND FOR ANY REASON, including, BUT NOT LIMITED TO for reasons related to individual performance, Aramark or individual department/team performance, and market factors.

Compensation Data

COMPENSATION: The Salaried rate for this position is $90,000.00 to $100,000.00. If both numbers are the same, that is the amount that Aramark expects to offer. This is Aramark's good faith and reasonable estimate of the compensation for this position as of the time of posting.

Job Responsibilities

  • Know and uphold Aramark's policies, procedures and Service Agreement with the client. Take ownership of property-wide wide facilities, infrastructure and grounds, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance facility performance, operating effectiveness and cost efficiency.
  • Customarily and regularly directs the work of at least two full-time historic preservation tradesmen and at least five full-time general maintenance workers. Directs the work contractors as needed. Responsible for developing and executing maintenance solutions to meet customer needs and client expectations
  • Leads, mentors, engages and develops teams to maximize their contributions, including recruiting, assessing, training, coaching, and managing performance. Rewards and recognizes employees
  • Ensures safety and sanitation standards in operation are compliant with Aramark and client regulations
  • Engage the executive leadership and project managers to gauge client priorities with regard to historic preservation initiatives to separate, consolidate, defer or pursue project requests based on the client's plans for site development. Assist in forecasting demand levels and priorities for the site repairs, upgrades and improvements.
  • Receive and log historic preservation project requests, perform initial review of scope and work requirements, determine appropriate disposition and communicate with the Client for approval to proceed or support in informing requestor of alternative resolution to needs.
  • Demonstrate competency and ensure compliance with the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) and the catalog of NPS Historic Preservation Briefs. Ensure compliance with safety and building codes and regulations, and technology standards and constraints. Estimate schedule and cost, document the project's justification and submit approval. Revise as required and resubmit; or, if denied, inform requestor and, if possible, suggest options.


  • Upon client approval, orient operations and support staff to project plan; confirm project supervisor's understanding and ownership of plan; assist in modifying the plan to meet conditions of work, resource availability and changing customer requirements. Seek further approvals if scope, schedule or costs vary significantly from approved plan.

  • Minimum of 10 years Historic preservation experience and/or knowledge including but not limited to the stabilization, repair, rehabilitation, restoration, and/or maintenance of historic structures.
  • Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Experience and proficiency with project management and scheduling solutions in technical operations and all aspects of planning, staffing, scheduling, and cost estimating.
  • Administrative experience related to project management, including safety cost tracking, progress monitoring, reporting and corrective action planning.
  • Experience and/or knowledge in the stabilization, repair, rehabilitation, restoration, and/or maintenance of historic structures.
