About the Position - Responsibilities & Duties
We're currently seeking candidates for the position of Maintenance Engineer in our Bala Cynwyd, PA Office (Philadelphia Area). If you are passionate about renewable energy and eager to make a significant impact on energy transition, we invite you to apply for this exciting opportunity.

The ability to accommodate approximately 30% domestic travel and site work (including overnight stays) is required for this position. Some international travel may also be required (Canada, France).

The Maintenance Engineer serves as a key member of Waga Energy's Operations & Maintenance team and is responsible for the development, planning, coordination, and execution of maintenance-related projects and continuous improvement initiatives across operating WAGABOX® facilities.

This role combines engineering, project management, field execution, and technical support responsibilities to enhance reliability, maintainability, safety, and overall operational performance.
Associated responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Prepare and Execute Maintenance Projects
  • Develop detailed engineering studies and plans for the implementation of maintenance projects.
  • Adapt solutions to the specific requirements and constraints of each site.
  • Manage the procurement process, including the selection of external contractors and the sourcing of required materials and equipment.
  • Plan project activities in collaboration with Operations teams.
  • Execute and/or coordinate the implementation of solutions on site.
  • Verify the quality and effectiveness of completed work and adjust solutions as needed, with support from Engineering teams (Methods, Process, Instrumentation & Automation, etc.).
  • Update technical documentation related to plant installations and equipment.
  • Communicate changes and provide information to all impacted teams.
  • Develop and manage the annual maintenance project schedule based on priorities, resources, and operational constraints.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels for maintenance project materials and equipment.

Support Change Management
  • Participate, together with the Methods Department, in the analysis and prioritization of change requests.
  • Contribute to the development of technical solutions with support from the various Engineering teams.
  • Conduct and/or coordinate detailed engineering studies required to implement solutions during downstream phases (operations and maintenance) and, when applicable, upstream phases (standardization).

Develop and Implement New Technologies
  • Monitor technological developments in the field of industrial maintenance and assess their relevance and potential value for the company.
  • Propose and implement innovative technologies, such as predictive maintenance and automation solutions, in collaboration with the Methods Department to improve operational and maintenance efficiency.

Provide Training and Technical Support
  • Train maintenance teams on new methods, tools, and best practices.
  • Provide technical support to operations and maintenance technicians when performing complex tasks or implementing new procedures.
  • Participate in Field Operations
  • Execute improvement and modification projects on operating sites.
  • Participate in annual maintenance shutdowns and major maintenance campaigns.

About You - Qualifications & Skills

The ideal candidate is an enthusiastic, self-motivated professional with a strong technical background in industrial maintenance, reliability, and project execution, a passion for sustainability, and:
  • A bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Reliability Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in a maintenance, reliability, engineering, or industrial project role within the energy, industrial process, manufacturing, gas processing, or related industries.
  • Strong understanding of industrial maintenance principles, asset reliability, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with maintenance workflow processes, planning, scheduling, and execution
  • Hands-on experience:
    • planning and executing maintenance improvement projects,
    • coordinating contractors, vendors, and equipment suppliers,
    • developing and implementing preventive and corrective maintenance solutions,
    • supporting major shutdowns, turnarounds, and large-scale maintenance activities,
    • troubleshooting equipment issues and identifying root causes of failures,
    • reviewing and updating technical documentation including P&IDs, equipment drawings, and bills of materials (BOMs),
    • managing project schedules, budgets, and procurement activities, and
    • collaborating with operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to implement equipment modifications and process improvements.
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, mechanical drawings, equipment specifications, technical plans, and engineering documentation.
  • Familiarity with rotating equipment, pumps, compressors, valves, instrumentation, and industrial process systems.
  • Experience working with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.
  • Strong inventory management and spare parts planning skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, for analysis, reporting, and project tracking.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to effectively build and maintain relationships with coworkers, contractors, vendors, and site owners.
  • Comfortable working in industrial environments such as gas processing facilities, energy plants, manufacturing sites, chemical plants, or similar facilities.
