Role: Mainframe z/OS Developer Location: Remote Position: 2 Employment Type: W2 Candidates Only Security Clearance: Public Trust Clearance Required Role Overview: We are seeking an experienced Mainframe z/OS Developer with strong expertise in IBM mainframe technologies, including COBOL, JCL, DB2, IMS, CICS, and VSAM. The ideal candidate will support enterprise mainframe applications, modernization initiatives, and migration projects while collaborating with cross functional teams to deliver secure, reliable, and high performance solutions. Experience with AI assisted modernization tools and mainframe DevOps practices is highly desirable. Key Responsibilities: • Design, develop, maintain, and support enterprise applications on IBM z/OS • Develop and maintain COBOL programs for batch and online processing • Create and maintain JCL for batch job execution • Develop and support applications using CICS, DB2, IMS, and VSAM • Perform application enhancements, maintenance, debugging, and issue resolution • Support mainframe modernization and migration initiatives • Analyze existing legacy applications and recommend modernization strategies • Perform batch processing and online transaction processing support • Utilize IBM utilities, TSO/ISPF, Abend AID, File AID, Control M, and Control D for development and troubleshooting • Collaborate with Java developers and cross functional teams during integration and migration efforts • Participate in risk assessment, migration planning, and resource management activities • Leverage AI driven tools for code analysis, documentation, testing, and modernization support • Ensure adherence to enterprise security standards, including RACF • Prepare technical documentation and support production deployments Required Skills: • 5+ years of hands on experience with COBOL programming on IBM z/OS • Strong experience with COBOL • Strong experience with JCL • Strong experience with VSAM • Strong experience with DB2 • Strong experience with IMS • Strong experience with CICS • Experience with batch processing and online transaction processing • Experience with IBM Utilities • Experience with TSO/ISPF • Experience with Abend AID • Experience with File AID • Experience with Control M • Experience with Control D • Knowledge of RACF security • Experience supporting mainframe migration or modernization initiatives • Knowledge of migration planning, risk assessment, and resource management • Familiarity with AI and Machine Learning tools such as Microsoft Copilot, IBM watsonx, ReDux, or similar technologies • Understanding of AI driven code refactoring platforms • Strong analytical and problem solving skills • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment Preferred Skills: • DevOps experience on Mainframe platforms • Jenkins • Git • Mainframe performance tuning • ServiceNow • Experience supporting enterprise modernization programs Expected Deliverables: • COBOL Application Development • Mainframe Enhancement Deliverables • JCL Development • Batch Processing Solutions • Online Transaction Processing Solutions • Migration Support Deliverables • Modernization Documentation • Technical Documentation • Code Analysis and Optimization • Production Support Deliverables Education Requirement: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
