Responsibilities: The Mainframe Developer will support Barrow Wise's State of Illinois project and perform the following duties:
- Write, test, and debug code
- Create databases and manage data
- Collaborate with team members on projects
- Update and maintain existing programs
- Work with other departments to gather requirements and define project scope
- Ensure software applications meet all performance and security standards
- Research new technologies and software development trends
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting
- Writing technical documentation
- Demonstrate strong expertise in Mainframe IMS (Information Management Systems) and MVS (Multiple Virtual Storage)
- Perform maintenance and project tasks for the Department staff.
- Perform duties in Springfield, IL.
An ideal candidate has the following:
- U.S. Citizenship
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related fields such as Accounting or Mathematics, or 6 years of equivalent knowledge, skill, and workplace experience
- Minimum five (5) years of experience with IMS databases
- Minimum five (5) years of experience with COBOL programming language
- Minimum five (5) years of experience with TSO (Time Sharing Option) utility
- Minimum five (5) years of experience with PANVALET (revision control and source code management system) utilities
- Minimum five (5) years of experience with Microsoft Office
- Minimum five (5) years of experience with FTP (File Transfer Protocol) and transferring data from IMS files into EXCEL spreadsheets.
- Minimum five (5) years of experience with analysis and system design
