We are looking for a Machinist Inspector to join our Summerville, SC location.
Your Responsibilities:The Machinist Inspector conducts inspection and testing of materials, parts, and products to ensure adherence to established standards of strength, quality, cleanliness, and endurance. Inspection responsibilities include expertise in dimensional measurement of tight-tolerance machined components. Additionally, the inspector will support in-process, material receipt, and pre-shipping inspections with broad criteria covering cleanliness, dimensional conformance, verification of material properties (e.g., hardness testing), and packaging.

Hourly Rate: $32-$46Please note that the hourly range information provided is a general guideline only, reflecting a position based in SC. Criteria such as the candidate's qualifications and relevant experience, the scope of the specific position, as well as market and business considerations will be evaluated when extending an offer.
Your Challenge: - Regularly inspect machined parts using precision measuring tools like calipers, analog micrometers, dial indicators, bore gages, and other types of metrologies to ensure they meet dimensional tolerances.
- Perform independent inspections to validate materials, parts, and products meet established standards of strength, quality, cleanliness, and endurance
- Perform in-process inspections (on and off machining equipment) to ensure nonconformances are discovered early
- Ensure work is done safely and meets quality standards
- Provide a great level of attention to detail and focus on the given task
- Work with team members to maximize productivity and efficiency
- Prepare official inspection reports for submittal to the government
- Conduct material receipt and shipping inspections
- Assist in developing inspection requirements based on component design drawings
- Mentoring junior inspectors to grow overall team capability
What you Bring: - Due to DoD requirements, candidates must be US citizens
- Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD Security clearances and approvals
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Completion of a four-year machinist apprenticeship or equivalent is an asset.
- Proficiency with standard dimensional measurement equipment such as analog micrometers, gauges, calipers, surface comparators, CMM, etc. Must be able to accurately measure and read analog devices down to .0001 of an inch.
- Knowledge of cutting tools and machining techniques
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings
- Ability to maintain high quality standards and tight tolerances within .001/.0001 of an inch with high accuracy analog gauging
- Strong understanding of machining principles
- Strong understanding of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
- Attention to detail: High level of accuracy and repeatability in inspection
- Mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills
- Ability effectively communicates with others
- Lifting objects weighing 50 pounds to waist height and transporting them to a distance of 10 feet.
