Machine Shop SupervisorWe9re looking for a Machine Shop Supervisor who can grow that team.
This isn9t a role where you step into a running operation with a fully established team and proven processes. You will hire the machinists, set the standards, and create the shift from the ground up - while running daily operations as the team grows around you.
On any given shift you9ll own it all: safety, quality, schedule, team development, and the handoff to the next supervisor. You9ll make hard calls without a playbook because the playbook doesn9t exist yet - you9re writing it. When the Machining Manager isn9t on the floor, you are the management presence. When problems surface, you solve them. When people on your team aren9t meeting the standard, you address it directly and early.
We9re a small team compared to the primes, which means your decisions have real impact and your fingerprints are on everything your shift produces. That9s not a qualifier - it9s the point.
What we9re looking for:- Experience in CNC machining with at least 2 years in an explicitly supervisory role in a precision manufacturing environment.
- Demonstrated experience building a team or being a first supervisor into a new operation - not just inheriting one.
- Background in aerospace, defense, or industrial manufacturing where safety and quality are non-negotiable.
- Hiring experience - has screened, evaluated, and recommended candidates with documented outcomes.
- Communication discipline - runs tight shift handoffs, escalates with context, closes the loop.
What you9ll own:- Building and developing the team - hiring, onboarding, and accountability.
- Daily execution - safety, quality, and schedule across every machine on your shift.
- Shift handoff discipline - the incoming supervisor always knows the full picture.
- The culture of the shift - standards, norms, and what it means to work here.
If you9ve built a team in a precision manufacturing environment and found it more satisfying than any other work you9ve done - this role is for you. If you need an established operation to be effective, it isn9t.
