Machine Sales Representative

What This Role Is
We're hiring an in-house Machine Sales Representative to own capital-equipment sales across the eastern and north-central United States. You'll sell into a wide range of industries - power generation, automotive, aerospace and space, medical device, defense, and tool & die - working from our Meadville office, running the full sales cycle from first contact to closed deal, and traveling to customer sites and trade shows to demo our machines and meet buyers face to face.
This is a consultative, technical sale. You're not pushing a commodity - you're helping a customer understand how a $100K+ laser welder pays for itself. You'll learn the product cold, qualify real opportunities, run demonstrations, quote, and close.
What You'll Do
- Own machine sales for your territory - the eastern and north-central U.S. - from lead through close.
- Prospect and build a pipeline: inbound leads, trade-show contacts, referrals, and your own outreach.
- Run product demonstrations at our facility and on customer sites; translate technical capability into business value for the buyer.
- Travel to customers and to trade shows to represent Alpha Laser, work the booth, and generate leads. (Trade shows and travel are a core, required part of this job.)
- Prepare quotes and proposals, negotiate terms, and close deals.
- Work with our service and applications team to scope installations and keep customers successful after the sale.
- Keep your pipeline and activity current in our CRM.
What We're Looking For
Required
- Proven B2B sales experience, ideally in capital equipment, machine tools, or another technical/industrial product.
- Comfortable owning a full sales cycle and carrying a number.
- Willing and able to travel regularly across the eastern and north-central U.S., including multi-day trade shows.
- Mechanically inclined - able to learn a technical product and speak credibly to shop owners, engineers, and buyers.
- Self-directed, organized, and persistent.
Nice to Have (we can train)
-Background in welding, machining, tool & die, mold making, or laser technology.
- Experience selling into or working in a precision manufacturing industry - medical device, power generation, automotive, aerospace, space, or defense.
- Experience selling into manufacturing, MRO, or industrial markets.
- CRM proficiency.
Travel
This role requires regular travel for customer visits, on-site demonstrations, and trade shows. Expect to be on the road a meaningful share of the year representing Alpha Laser in the field.
Compensation
Competitive base salary commensurate with experience, plus uncapped commission on machine sales and milestone bonuses. A rep who builds this territory earns well into six figures. We'd rather start you fairly than haggle.
