COMPENSATION RANGE: $85,000 - $90,000 Annually

Job SummaryThe Microsoft 365 (M365) Administrator is responsible for the operational reliability, security configuration, and day-to-day administration of Virginia Farm Bureau's Microsoft 365 collaboration environment. This role supports approximately 1,000 employees across corporate and county office locations by ensuring collaboration tools are highly available, secure, well-governed, and easy to use.
Primary platforms in scope include
Microsoft Teams, SharePoint Online (including the VAFB intranet), OneDrive, and Microsoft 365 Groups. The M365 Administrator executes governance standards, resolves complex issues, and partners with Security, Service Delivery, and the Collaboration Product Owner to continuously improve the employee collaboration experience.
Key ResponsibilitiesMicrosoft 365 Platform Administration- Administer and support Microsoft 365 collaboration services used across VAFB, including Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive
- Configure tenant and service-level settings in alignment with VAFB security, compliance, and governance standards
- Monitor service health, reliability, and usage; troubleshoot incidents affecting field offices and corporate users
- Manage and communicate impacts of Microsoft feature changes and platform updates
SharePoint Online & Intranet Administration- Administer SharePoint Online site collections, hubs, permissions, and storage supporting the VAFB intranet and collaboration sites
- Partner with Communications and business stakeholders to support intranet operations while enforcing technical governance standards
- Maintain information architecture, permissions models, and site configuration standards
- Execute site lifecycle management including provisioning, ownership validation, archival, and cleanup to reduce sprawl and risk
Teams & Workspace Provisioning- Provision and administer Microsoft Teams and collaboration workspaces using standardized request and approval processes
- Support Teams-related workloads that depend on SharePoint document libraries and Microsoft 365 Groups
- Enforce external collaboration and sharing policies appropriate for VAFB's insurance and regulatory environment
Security, Access, and Compliance Support- Manage user access and permissions using role-based, group-based, and least-privilege approaches
- Partner with Information Security on retention, audit readiness, and eDiscovery support for collaboration content
- Support governance execution for records management and data protection requirements
Support, Automation, and Documentation- Provide Tier-2 and Tier-3 support for Microsoft 365 collaboration issues escalated from the Service Desk
- Identify recurring issues and implement configuration improvements or automation to reduce operational overhead
- Develop and maintain administrative documentation, operational runbooks, and platform standards
Operational Discipline & Continuous Improvement- Reduce configuration drift, permission sprawl, and orphaned resources across the tenant
- Proactively identify risks, performance issues, and improvement opportunities related to collaboration services
- Support initiatives that improve user adoption, reliability, and consistency across county offices
Required Qualifications- 5+ years of experience administering Microsoft 365 collaboration platforms in an enterprise environment
- Hands-on experience with SharePoint Online administration, including intranet support
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Teams, OneDrive, and Microsoft 365 Groups
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex platform issues affecting distributed users
- Experience documenting standards, procedures, and operational processes
Preferred Qualifications- Experience supporting collaboration platforms in insurance, financial services, or other regulated environments
- PowerShell scripting experience for Microsoft 365 administration and automation
- Experience supporting a geographically distributed workforce
- Familiarity with Microsoft 365 governance, retention, and compliance concepts
