Dynacraft, a PACCAR Company is a diversified global manufacturer of commercial vehicle parts and components sold under the Kenworth and Peterbilt brands. For more than forty years, Dynacraft has provided the company's truck divisions and PACCAR Parts distribution centers with high quality components, subassemblies, and specialized services. Dynacraft has production facilities in Louisville, KY and McKinney, TX.

Requisition Summary

This position will be responsible for the application, evaluation, development, project management, commissioning, and system management of manufacturing industrial automation and control systems. The ideal candidate is experienced in Lean Manufacturing and is proactive in taking action on leading quality improvements and will have demonstrated success in making lasting improvements. Fact-based decision making is a requirement for success and communicating those decisions and requirements to all levels of the business. This position will report directly to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and is located in Louisville, KY.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and troubleshoot facility and manufacturing control systems including PLCs, AC and DC drives, computer controls, HMI interfaces, traditional contactor-type controls, and process instrumentation.
  • Design and implement improvements to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance reliability of existing plant and manufacturing control systems and equipment.
  • Design control systems and prepare drawings, specifications, and scopes of work. Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to integrate control systems into larger systems and processes to ensure seamless communications.
  • Write new or modify existing PLC programs and make system hardware recommendations to resolve operational issues, improve processes, and implement new project designs supporting factory initiatives and continuous improvement.
  • Detailed documentation and maintenance of revisions to existing automated systems, including PLC and computer software/hardware information.
  • Interface with IT and upper-level computer system personnel to ensure proper application of computer controls and database instructions.
  • Provide electrical engineering, hardware design, systems integration, PLC programming, motion programming, HMI configuration, component specification, project management, and start-up and commissioning of capital projects.
  • Support and assist Maintenance personnel in troubleshooting, testing, modifying, and installing electrical equipment and control systems.
  • Support and participate in implementation of and improvements to the Manufacturing Execution System.


Qualifications

  • Advanced expertise in programming with Rockwell Automation software, including Studio 5000/RSLogix 5000, RSLogix 500, FactoryTalk ME/SE, and Connected Components Workbench. Strong background in OT, control systems, and machine connectivity.
  • Proficient in industrial networks, specifically EtherNet/IP design and networking, including configuration of managed switches and NAT devices. Preferred experience with Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron, Direct Logic, or other PLC/HMI platforms.
  • Familiarity with integration of Yaskawa and Fanuc Robotics Automation Systems is advantageous. Knowledge of SCADA, OPC-UA, Historian, and other data gathering, visualization, and analysis software is preferred.
  • Skilled in AutoCAD for modifying and creating electrical drawings and schematics. Advanced understanding of automated material conveyance systems utilizing VFDs, PLCs, and motion control components.
  • Strong computer aptitude with ability to quickly learn new systems. Proficient with Allen Bradley hardware and electronic components. Experience with Manufacturing Execution System implementation is a plus.
  • Mastery of MS Office suite and strong Windows OS skills preferred. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects while adapting flexibly to changing priorities.
  • Proven leadership, excellent interpersonal skills, and strong communication abilities. Capable of working independently and collaboratively in team environments.
  • Committed to maintaining a safe work environment by proactively identifying and mitigating potential hazards.


Education

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or appropriate major required.
  • Master's degree desired.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of control engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated ability gained through 5+ years in related assignments.
