What You'll DoAs the Pharmacy Manager, you will provide leadership and oversight for all aspects of the Long-Term Care pharmacy operation, including clinical services, workflow management, quality assurance, staff development, and customer satisfaction.
Leadership & Operations- Lead and supervise pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and support staff to ensure efficient daily pharmacy operations.
- Oversee prescription processing, verification, dispensing, and medication delivery to long-term care facilities while maintaining exceptional quality standards.
- Develop staffing plans and schedules that support operational efficiency, excellent customer service, and financial performance.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable team culture through coaching, mentoring, and professional development.
- Conduct performance evaluations, provide ongoing feedback, and recognize employee achievements.
Clinical Excellence- Ensure compliance with all federal and state pharmacy laws, DEA regulations, Medicare/Medicaid requirements, and company policies.
- Maintain the highest standards of medication safety through Drug Utilization Review (DUR), prescription verification, and clinical oversight.
- Serve as the primary resource for complex prescription questions, provider concerns, medication therapy issues, and patient escalations.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, consultants, and facility staff to resolve medication-related concerns and optimize patient outcomes.
- Partner with the Director of Clinical Services to develop and expand Medication Therapy Management (MTM), clinical pharmacy services, immunization programs, and other patient care initiatives.
Quality & Continuous Improvement- Monitor pharmacy quality metrics and operational performance indicators.
- Conduct root cause analyses and implement corrective actions to improve quality, safety, and workflow efficiency.
- Develop, maintain, and continuously improve pharmacist work instructions, standard operating procedures, and best practices.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, increase efficiency, and enhance customer satisfaction.
Training & Team Development- Partner with training and leadership teams to ensure employees receive comprehensive onboarding and ongoing education.
- Educate staff on new regulations, workflow enhancements, technology updates, and clinical initiatives.
- Promote a culture of continuous learning, accountability, and professional growth.
Customer & Facility Relationships- Build strong relationships with long-term care facilities, providers, nurses, and internal departments.
- Serve as a trusted clinical and operational resource for customers and facility partners.
- Collaborate across departments to improve service levels and exceed customer expectations.
QualificationsRequired- Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
- Current, active Wisconsin Pharmacist License in good standing.
- Certified to administer vaccinations in Wisconsin.
- Minimum of 3 years of pharmacy leadership, supervisory, or management experience.
- Strong understanding of pharmacy operations, workflow management, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance.
Preferred- Long-Term Care pharmacy experience strongly preferred.
- Experience leading pharmacy operations in a high-volume dispensing environment.
- Knowledge of Medicare Part D, consultant pharmacy services, and long-term care regulations.
- Experience with pharmacy management systems and workflow technology.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
