Position Summary

The Loyalty Accounting Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the accounting, financial reporting, compliance, and operational performance of loyalty, rebate, incentive, and manufacturer-funded programs. This role ensures accurate revenue recognition, payment reconciliation, contract compliance, and financial governance across complex promotional and loyalty initiatives. The manager partners closely with Accounting, Finance, Merchandising, IT, Data Management, Operations, and external manufacturers to maximize program profitability, maintain strong internal controls, and support strategic business objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage accounting activities for loyalty, rebate, incentive, and manufacturer-funded programs, ensuring accurate revenue recognition and financial statement integrity.
  • Oversee forecasting, accruals, reconciliations, and month-end close activities related to loyalty and incentive revenue streams.
  • Analyze sales, transactional, and program performance data to support accounting accuracy and business decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, accounting policies, and manufacturer reporting requirements.
  • Lead financial governance activities related to incentive and loyalty programs, ensuring data integrity and audit readiness.
  • Coordinate remediation efforts for reporting discrepancies, rejected submissions, and compliance issues to minimize financial risk and recover lost revenue.
  • Partner with IT, POS, Merchandising, Data Management, Marketing, Finance, and Operations teams to resolve data and reporting issues.
  • Act as the primary accounting and business contact for manufacturers, vendors, and external partners regarding loyalty and incentive programs.
  • Lead initiatives to improve automation, streamline processes, and strengthen reporting capabilities.
  • Lead and develop a team of two analysts, providing direction, coaching, workload prioritization, and performance management.

Qualifications Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Ability to work in-office 5 days a week per the company policies.
  • 5+ years of experience in accounting, rebate accounting, revenue accounting, loyalty accounting, financial analysis, or related areas.
  • Strong understanding of revenue recognition, reconciliations, accrual accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Experience managing complex incentive, rebate, loyalty, promotional, or manufacturer-funded programs.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret large volumes of transactional data.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional business and technology teams.

Preferred
  • CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred but not required.
  • Experience within retail, convenience store, consumer products, or loyalty program environments.
  • Knowledge of contract management and manufacturer incentive agreements.
  • Experience with ERP systems, data analytics platforms, and business intelligence tools.
