Title: Loss Control Engineer V

We are seeking a seasoned Loss Control Engineer to support a large-scale, complex construction environment. This role is responsible for strengthening onsite safety performance, managing loss-control activities, supporting insurance and claims processes, and partnering with project teams and contractors to reduce risk and prevent incidents. Success in this role requires a strong field presence, the ability to influence diverse stakeholders, and experience supporting ground-up, greenfield, retrofit, or mission-critical construction projects.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Lead onsite safety engagements, site walks, risk assessments, and inspections across large-scale construction projects.
  • Prepare and distribute safety reports, observations, assessments, and progress updates.
  • Participate in and lead safety meetings, project meetings, and contractor coordination sessions.
  • Provide guidance to project teams and contractors on construction safety, loss control, and risk-management practices.
  • Support the effective implementation and administration of an Owner Controlled Insurance Program (OCIP).
  • Manage and coordinate safety-related insurance claims and work directly with insurance partners.
  • Analyze safety data and incident trends, including TCIR and related performance metrics, to identify actionable insights.
  • Lead incident investigations, root-cause analyses, and corrective-action reporting.
  • Support Environmental Health and Safety program improvements and onsite safety training.
  • Maintain strong cross-functional relationships with contractors, project leadership, property owners, tenants, and other stakeholders.
  • Integrate safety requirements into construction sequencing, including ground-up, greenfield, retrofit, and live-site activities.
  • Travel to additional project locations as needed, typically up to 30%.

Required Qualifications:
  • 7+ years of experience in a dedicated construction safety, loss control, or site risk-management role.
  • Demonstrated experience working within an OCIP environment.
  • Hands-on experience managing insurance claims and partnering with insurance providers, brokers, or risk-management teams.
  • Experience supporting large-scale construction sites with significant onsite workforce populations.
  • Strong knowledge of construction safety regulations, risk assessments, incident investigation, and corrective-action processes.
  • Experience using safety analytics and metrics such as TCIR, TRIR, or similar indicators to identify trends and improve performance.
  • Experience implementing or enhancing Environmental Health and Safety programs.
  • Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems associated with complex construction environments.
  • Experience with ground-up construction, greenfield development, and fast-track design-build projects.
  • Experience supporting retrofit work in live, occupied, or mission-critical environments.
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related field.
  • Current CSP or CHST certification.
  • OSHA 500 certification.
  • Ability to work onsite full-time and travel as required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting data centers, airports, oil and gas facilities, pharmaceutical environments, or other mission-critical construction projects.
  • Experience working for a large general contractor, construction management firm, owner's representative, or loss-control organization.
  • Background supporting projects with approximately 2,000 or more onsite personnel.
  • Strong stakeholder-management skills and the ability to work effectively with contractors, landlords, tenants, neighbors, and project leadership.
  • Proven ability to influence safety performance through collaboration rather than confrontation.
  • Experience navigating complex cross-functional environments with multiple contractors and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with live-site construction where existing operations must remain active during project execution.

Our benefits package includes:
  • Comprehensive medical benefits
  • Competitive pay
  • 401(k) retirement plan
