If you have a passion for multinational insurance programs and a sharp eye for coverage analysis, this could be the role you've been looking for. At Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, we're solving some of the most complex risk challenges in the world - and we want you to be part of it.

About the Role

Swiss Re Corporate Solutions is seeking an experienced Underwriter to join our International Programs team. In this role, you will be at the heart of multinational insurance operations - providing critical underwriting expertise, policy wording guidance, and regulatory oversight for U.S. local placements that service business produced outside North America. As a reverse-flow underwriter, you'll collaborate with underwriting teams across the globe to evaluate coverage structures, review policy forms and endorsements, assess underwriting exceptions, and deliver technical guidance that directly shapes the quality and consistency of multinational insurance solutions for our clients. This is a high-impact position that blends deep technical expertise with meaningful cross-border collaboration.

Key responsibilities include:

Technical Underwriting
  • Review and support U.S. local policies, endorsements, and coverage structures for multinational insurance programs
  • Evaluate pre-bind exception requests and provide well-reasoned technical underwriting recommendations
  • Ensure compliance of local placements with underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements, and approved program structures
  • Provide technical underwriting guidance across a broad range of lines including:
    • Commercial General Liability
    • Construction Liability
    • Automobile Liability
    • Employers Liability
    • Employee Benefits Liability
    • Umbrella and Excess Liability
    • Commercial Property
    • Directors & Officers Liability (D&O)
    • Long-tail and runoff liabilities, where applicable
  • Review policy wording and endorsements to ensure alignment with coverage intent and underwriting strategy
  • Support multinational placements involving large corporate and middle-market accounts

International Program Support
  • Act as a technical resource for underwriting teams and producing offices outside North America
  • Support multinational insurance programs, captive structures, fronting arrangements, and alternative risk transfer solutions
  • Utilize Swiss Re systems and tools to monitor and oversee local servicing policies
  • Maintain awareness of market developments, regulatory requirements, and emerging risks

Collaboration and Leadership
  • Partner with internal stakeholders across underwriting, operations, claims, legal, compliance, and finance functions
  • Participate in broker and client discussions requiring technical underwriting expertise
  • Provide training and guidance to underwriting colleagues and producing offices
  • Contribute to process improvements, system enhancements, and knowledge management initiatives

About the Team

The International Programs team is a cornerstone of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions' continued growth and global success. We are a collaborative, high-performing group that sits at the intersection of technology, underwriting expertise, and global servicing - helping multinational clients navigate complexity and manage risk across jurisdictions with confidence. Through our integrated technology platform, expansive global servicing network, and deep underwriting knowledge, we deliver seamless multinational insurance solutions that make a tangible difference for clients worldwide. You'll work closely with colleagues across Underwriting, Operations, Claims, Compliance, Finance, Legal, Contracts & Wording, Product Management, and Integrated Risk Solutions - making every day dynamic and collaborative. This is a team that values curiosity, technical excellence, and a genuine commitment to finding the best solutions for our clients - no matter how complex the challenge.

About You

You are a detail-oriented, technically strong underwriting professional who brings both analytical rigor and collaborative energy to everything you do. You're comfortable navigating complex coverage structures, engaging confidently with brokers and global colleagues, and making sound underwriting decisions in a fast-paced, multinational environment. You take pride in your technical expertise and are always looking for opportunities to share knowledge and elevate those around you.

We are looking for candidates who meet these requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 3-7 years of commercial underwriting experience
  • Successfully passed CPCU 551 (Managing Commercial Property Risk) and CPCU 552 (Managing Commercial Liability Risk)
  • Strong technical knowledge of commercial insurance coverages, policy forms, and underwriting principles, with demonstrated ability to:
    • Interpret ISO and Swiss Re proprietary policy forms, endorsements, exclusions, and coverage triggers
    • Evaluate coverage intent and identify potential gaps or unintended exposures
    • Assess how primary, excess, umbrella, and specialty coverages interact within a multinational insurance program
    • Evaluate the impact of limits, aggregates, exclusions, attachment points, and coverage triggers on overall program structure
  • Hands-on experience reviewing policy wording, endorsements, and complex coverage structures
  • Working knowledge across multiple lines: General Liability, Umbrella, Excess Liability, Automobile Liability, Employers Liability, Commercial Property, Directors & Officers Liability, and Construction Liability

These are additional nice to haves:
  • Experience working with multinational insurance programs, captive structures, or fronting arrangements
  • Familiarity with alternative risk transfer solutions and global regulatory environments
  • Ability to respond confidently to broker and producing office inquiries regarding policy wording, coverage applicability, and endorsement usage
  • Experience providing training, mentoring, or technical guidance to underwriting colleagues
  • Proficiency with underwriting systems, tools, and digital platforms
  • Strong analytical, communication, and decision-making skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across global time zones
  • Exposure to large corporate and middle-market account underwriting
