Litigation Paralegal II

The Litigation Paralegal II is responsible for providing a high level of legal support to the attorneys/legal staff within Niagara’s legal team. The primary responsibilities for this position will include monitoring the Company’s litigation docket, supporting in-house attorneys on various litigation matters, including consumer, class action, and employment litigation, conducting legal research, and assisting with legal department projects and operations. They will also be responsible for managing our immigration docket, as well as assisting with claims processing and worker’s compensation matters. The ideal candidate will have excellent problem-solving, organizational, writing, and communication skills, and be able to work independently as well as in a team environment.

Essential Functions

  • Consumer, class action, and employment litigation defense, including monitoring litigation docket and initial case intake, assessment, and tracking, as well as researching case law, statutes, laws, and regulations.
  • Assists in legal department operations, including but not limited to: (a) risk management, (b) managing and/or drafting various policies, procedures and guidelines, (c) assistance with budgeting and oversight of external legal counsel spend, and (d) acting as liaison to other internal departments on various litigation and claims, as well as other projects.
  • Tasks related to discovery (including eDiscovery), litigation hold compliance, record retention, subpoenas, records requests, and wage garnishments.
  • Support the work of the attorneys in connection with internal and external investigations.
  • Locate information and data custodians.
  • Communicate with internal clients, outside counsel, and e-discovery vendors.
  • General matter management, including issuing and maintaining document preservation notices.
  • Manage our immigration docket through the online portal, including data input, communication with relevant stakeholders, and visa tracking.  Prior immigration experience is preferred, but not required.
  • Pull copies of documents and perform basic document review to provide key details of requested documents.
  • Assist with attorney correspondence.
  • Provide administrative support to the Deputy General Counsel and litigation/claims team.
  • Misc. legal projects requested on an as-needed basis.
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be available to work onsite in Diamond Bar Monday through Thursday.

Proficiency in, but not limited to:

  • Legal research, including the use of Pacer, Lexis/Westlaw, Internet services and library materials, and factual research and legal writing
  • Thorough knowledge of legal principles, legal terminology, and legal research techniques
  • Relevant computer knowledge and experience including word processing, spreadsheet, document management, electronic mail and database programs, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint), Microsoft Teams, Legal Tracker, etc.
