Diverse Computing, Inc. (DCI) is looking for a highly driven Linux Systems Administrator to join our team. We are open to candidates ranging from Level I through Senior, with responsibilities and compensation assigned based on demonstrated skill set, technical experience, and organizational fit. This is a full-time, salaried, exempt position that can be performed fully remotely, with hybrid in-office options available for candidates in or near Tallahassee, FL.
In this role, you will help build, maintain, and secure our enterprise-grade RHEL-based infrastructure across the organization. Depending on your experience level, your work will range from supporting day-to-day operations and driving automation initiatives to contributing to system architecture and mentoring team members. We are seeking someone with a dedication to helping others, a passion for problem-solving, and a strong foundational or advanced understanding of Linux systems administration, automation, and security.
RequirementsAs a Linux Systems Administrator, you will:- Serve as the primary subject matter expert for RHEL/CentOS Linux systems administration across enterprise environments
- Manage system infrastructure including databases, firewalls, storage systems, and other software and hardware
- Provide technical support for both hardware and software issues that may arise
- Monitor the systems daily and respond quickly to any security breaches, usability concerns, application errors, or performance issues
- Lead automation efforts for deployments and configuration management on Linux systems using Ansible and Bash
- Mentor and provide guidance to junior administrators and technicians; assist with tier-2 and tier-3 support issues
- Monitor existing deployments for issues and recommend improvements to the stability and availability of new and existing deployments
- Make recommendations for future server, software, and infrastructure upgrades
- Monitor performance and maintain systems according to requirements
- Work with customers on implementation of new projects and hardware and software refreshes
- Troubleshoot issues and outages
- Design and enforce security controls through access management, backups, and firewalls
- Establish backup systems, verify that the backups have been completed, and test the backups
- Perform DR activities as needed
- Build and maintain internal wiki with technical documentation, manuals, and IT policies
- Study technical and patch literature to keep abreast of the latest technologies and patch updates
- Lead integration of new applications and technologies into the current system
- Troubleshoot and debug production software
- Analyze requirements then disseminate, evaluate, articulate, and design solutions
- Create technical documentation for reference and reporting
- Research ideas to improve system performance and impact availability

QualificationsThis job might be for you, if you:- Have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Cyber Security, or other related technology fields
- Hold a current Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) certification on RHEL 8 or newer (preferred)
- Have at least 5 years of Linux administration experience, with 3+ years focused on RHEL/CentOS environments (preferred)
- Are very proficient with:
- RHEL 8/9 administration, including SELinux, systemd, and firewalld
- Ansible for configuration management and deployment automation
- VMware and/or Proxmox virtualization administration
- Bash scripting
- Python scripting experience is a strong plus
- Have working knowledge of SQL, including administration of SQL Server or MySQL databases
- Have a minimum of five years of professional IT experience with systems or network administration (preferred)
- Have experience with enterprise monitoring tools such as Zabbix, Nagios, or Prometheus (nice to have/preferred)
- Have networking experience (especially dealing with Cisco ASAs and switches) (nice to have/preferred)
- Have worked with Microsoft Azure or other cloud hosting services (nice to have/preferred)
- Either live in Tallahassee, FL or are planning to move to the Tallahassee area, or are able to work fully remote
- Currently reside in one of these states: FL, GA, KS, KY, MO, NC, NJ, NY, SC, TN, TX, UT, VA; Preference will be given to candidates residing in or near Tallahassee, Florida
- Are able to work on-call on a rotating basis
- Are able and available to work 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday
- Can assist with early-morning software releases
- Are effective at communicating with customers, colleagues, and management
- Can confidently pass rigorous fingerprint-based state and federal background screenings and drug screening, as required by the nationwide agencies we work with (mandatory)
