Job Description:

SYSTEMS ADMINISTRATOR SME

MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT
As a Systems Administrator SME, the work you'll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission.
  • Responsible for the administration, maintenance and support of the organization's IT systems and infrastructure including managing servers, ensuring system availability and implementing solutions to improve system performance and security.
  • Oversees the installation, configuration and maintenance of servers including physical and virtual environments.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to understand business needs and requirements and provide appropriate solutions.
  • Manages the Active Directory, and other core IT services.
  • Monitors systems performance and troubleshoots moderate to complex issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Performs maintenance such as patch management, updates and backups.
  • Plans and executes systems upgrades and hardware/software installations.
  • Ensures systems are updated with latest security patches and software updates.
  • Implements and maintains security measures to protect systems from unauthorized access and vulnerabilities.
  • Conducts security audits and assessments to ensure compliance with organization policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Develops, manages and tests backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Develops and maintains disaster recovery plans for critical systems and services.
  • Participates in disaster recover drills and business continuity planning.
  • Provides support to end users and other IT staff by resolving complex hardware, software and system related issues.
  • Maintains detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures and changes.
  • Creates reports on system performance, security incidents and other key metrics.
  • Coordinates with other IT teams to ensure coordinated delivery of IT services.
  • Provides recommendations for system improvements based on analysis and industry best practices.
  • May assist in the development of IT policies and procedures.
  • May coach and provide guidance to less-experienced professionals.
  • May serve as a team lead.


WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED
Bring your technology expertise and drive for innovation to GDIT. The Systems Administrator SME must have:
• Education: Technical Training, Certification(s) or Degree
• Experience: 10+ years of related experience
• Security clearance level: Active TS/SCI w/ Polygraph required

Required Proficiency:
• Linux (RHEL, Rocky, Ubuntu), Windows Active Directory, LDAP
• VMWare, management of virtual machines and hypervisors
• Must qualify for CWQMP (formerly CWIP) Basic Proficiency Level

Additional Desired Experience and Tool familiarity:
• Gitlab administration, automated build/runners
• Netbackup
• Implementation and enforcement of security policies, and integration with enterprise security monitor systems and log collections
• Ansible

The likely salary range for this position is $152,915 - $206,885. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
