Full Job Description

You Are

  • A proven business builder. You have led an organization 1 a consulting practice, a business development function, or a commercial team 1 and you know what it takes to grow revenue, build talent, and set a market strategy from the top.

  • A major account originator. You have a track record of personally sourcing and closing large, complex engagements with senior R26D and innovation leaders at MedTech OEMs. You don27t need a warm intro or institutional support to open a door.

  • An AI leader with substance. You understand how AI and data are reshaping R26D operations and you can set a credible vision for AI-enabled transformation in front of a skeptical board or C-suite.

  • A MedTech authority. You are recognized in the industry 1 through your network, your thought leadership, or your track record 1 as someone who understands the product development lifecycle, the regulatory environment, and the strategic pressures facing R26D organizations.

  • A talent multiplier. You build organizations, not just teams. You attract strong people, develop them deliberately, and create the kind of culture where high performers want to stay and grow.

Job Description:

This is a business leadership role, not a senior delivery role. We are looking for a Principal Director who has already built and run something meaningful 1 a practice, a business unit, a market 1 and is ready to do it again at Accenture scale.

You will own a defined segment of our MedTech R26D growth agenda: setting the strategy, building the team, originating and closing major client engagements, and being accountable for the P26L. You have the credibility to walk into a boardroom conversation with a Chief R26D Officer and be seen as a peer. AI fluency is not a nice-to-have 1 it is central to how you lead and what you sell.

The Work (Role Responsibility)

  • Responsibility for a defined segment of Accenture27s MedTech R26D practice 1 including revenue targets, headcount, and margin.

  • Market strategy for your segment: where to play, how to win, which clients to prioritize, and how to differentiate Accenture27s offering against competitors.

  • A major client origination agenda 1 personally sourcing and closing transformational engagements with C-suite and VP-level R26D leaders across top MedTech OEMs and emerging digital health companies.

  • Design and deployment of AI-enabled solutions that help clients accelerate product development, improve clinical operations, and build data-driven R26D organizations.

  • Executive-level client relationships that position Accenture as the long-term strategic partner of choice for R26D transformation.

  • Thought leadership and market positioning 1 setting Accenture27s point of view in your segment through publications, keynotes, and industry presence.

  • Practice development 1 recruiting, developing, and retaining the next generation of Accenture27s MedTech R26D leaders.

Travel - candidate should be willing to travel up to 75% to client locations.

Here27s What You Need:

  • Minimum of 15 years working in or advising the MedTech R26D industry, with deep expertise in the product development and regulatory lifecycle with deep segment expertise in at least one area: cardiovascular, neuromodulation, surgical robotics, diagnostics, digital health, or adjacent fields.
  • Minimum of 10 years experience in management consulting or with a MedTech firm, with a demonstrated track record of business development, client origination, and practice leadership.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience owning or leading an organization 1 a consulting practice, a business unit, or a commercial function 1 with accountability for people, revenue, and strategy.
  • A Bachelor27s degree (science, engineering, or health-related field preferred); advanced degree a strong plus.

Bonus Points If You Have:

  • A proven ability to originate and close major engagements independently 1 large, complex deals with senior buyers at MedTech OEMs.
  • Hands-on experience leading or selling AI-enabled R26D transformation 1 not just recommending AI, but designing and implementing it.
  • An established, senior network of C-suite and VP-level R26D, innovation, and commercial leaders at MedTech OEMs who see you as a trusted strategic advisor.
  • Experience building and scaling a consulting practice or business development organization 1 not just contributing to one.
  • A visible market presence: publications, keynote appearances, board or advisory roles, or a professional reputation that precedes you in the MedTech R26D space.
  • A disciplined approach to pipeline management at scale 1 portfolio-level thinking about where to invest the team27s time, not just your own.
  • Experience operating at the intersection of R26D, commercial, and technology strategy 1 able to connect Accenture27s full capability set to a client27s enterprise agenda.

Compensation at Accenture varies depending on a wide array of factors, which may include but are not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. As required by local law, Accenture provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired as set forth below.
We anticipate this job posting will be posted until 10/08/2026.
