Overview

The Lending Officer in Corporate Banking supports the growth and risk management of Commercial & Industrial (C&I) and Commercial Real Estate (CRE) portfolios. This role partners closely with Relationship Managers, Credit, and Underwriting to structure transactions, analyze credit risk, manage existing portfolios, and ensure compliance with internal credit standards and regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate brings strong financial analysis skills, sound credit judgment, and a collaborative approach to supporting client relationships.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with Relationship Managers to structure C&I and CRE loan transactions.
  • Meet with existing and prospective clients to understand financial needs and credit objectives.
  • Perform initial financial analysis and deal screening prior to underwriting.
  • Prepare deal summaries and assist with screening and approval presentations.
  • Support ongoing portfolio monitoring, including credit quality and risk identification.
  • Ensure opportunities align with internal portfolio management guidelines and credit standards.
  • Assist with portfolio, pipeline, and credit reporting for senior and regional management.
  • Prepare Deal Memorandums for commercial loan requests.
  • Analyze borrower financial statements, cash flow, global debt service, liquidity, profitability, and solvency.
  • Support the end-to-end credit process, including coordination with Credit and Underwriting teams.
  • Track and support timely processing of credit requests, renewals, extensions, waivers, and modifications.
  • Collect and validate financial and credit information to support accurate risk assessment.
  • Provide portfolio, credit, and risk guidance to support responsible portfolio growth.
  • Assist with annual credit reviews and ongoing financial reviews for assigned portfolios.
  • Recommend renewal terms, covenant changes, structural enhancements, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for loan closings and post-closing matters.
  • Coordinate with Loan Closing and Legal teams to resolve documentation and structural issues.
  • Ensure data integrity within loan systems and support regulatory and compliance requirements, including Regulation B.
  • Monitor industry and market trends to identify potential portfolio risks.
Qualifications

Education/Experience:

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of progressive experience in credit analysis, portfolio management, or commercial lending, with demonstrated independent credit judgment and portfolio decisionmaking responsibility.
  • Formal credit analysis training.
  • Combination of education and experience will be considered.

    Skills & Competencies

  • Advanced knowledge of credit policies, financial analysis, cash flow analysis, and portfolio risk management.
  • Strong ability to independently assess risk, challenge assumptions, and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Strong financial statement analysis and credit risk assessment skills
  • Knowledge of C&I and CRE lending products and structures.
  • Must be able to understand and implement job related policies and procedures.
  • Must possess strong credit skills and be knowledgeable of credit policies.
  • Working knowledge of credit and financial analysis, including cash flow analysis, balance sheet analysis, profitability, liquidity, and solvency analysis.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, analytical, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
