Job Description

HII NNS Direct Support is seeking qualified candidates to lead E25 Work Control efforts in support of the new Columbia Class Submarine, currently under construction at Newport News Shipbuilding in Newport News, Virginia. Individuals with prior E25 Submarine Work Control experience and current qualification as a Work Control Lead Test Engineer are strongly encouraged to apply. This position is fully on-site at Newport News Shipbuilding in Newport News, Virginia.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Synthesizes customer contractual requirements into comprehensive system test solutions that effectively address technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Leads the development, preparation, and execution of detailed test plans, procedures, and schedules to support system completion.
  • Coordinates integrated testing activities and ensures alignment across all stakeholders.
  • Reviews and assesses test requirements to verify the completeness and adequacy of the overall test program.
  • Conducts technical analyses of fully integrated systems and prepares thorough system-level evaluations.


Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 9 years relevant experience.
  • Candidates must have prior Shipyard Submarine Work Control experience.
  • Candidates must have experience using and managing Work Authorization Forms.
  • Candidates must have experience leading the development, preparation, and execution of detailed test plans, procedures, and schedules to support system completion.
  • Candidate must have an Active Secret Clearance.


Preferred Requirements

  • Previously qualified as a Repair Activity Witness.
  • Previously qualified as a Repair Activity Representative.
  • Prior shipyard Work Control experience.
  • Qualification as Lead Test Engineer.


Physical Requirements

Office, industrial or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving of materials not to exceed the guidelines set for one man lift.
