About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking a Lead Tax Analyst to lead the delivery and support the design of key initiatives within the Corporate Tax and greater Finance organization. This role will play a critical part in executing the function’s modernization strategy by implementing scalable, well-controlled solutions across tax provision, compliance, reporting, and analytics. You will serve as a bridge between strategy and execution, partnering across Corporate Tax, Finance, and Enterprise Technology to translate complex tax requirements into data-driven, technology-enabled solutions. This role also operates within a highly regulated financial services environment and will focus on enhancing data quality, automation, transparency, and operational efficiency across the tax function.
In this role, you will:
Manage and deliver assigned tax transformation workstreams, including planning, execution, and implementation of data, technology, and process solutions.
Handle multiple concurrent initiatives across tax workstreams while serving as a key liaison between Tax, Finance, and Technology to ensure alignment of requirements, priorities, and delivery outcomes.
Translate complex tax technical requirements into scalable system, data, and process solutions such that concepts are clear to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Identify and implement opportunities to streamline and automate tax processes, reducing manual effort and improving control frameworks.
Support stability and continuous improvement of existing tax processes and technology while contributing to future-state transformation.
Enable advanced analytics capabilities to enhance tax reporting and decision-making.
Support improvements in tax data quality, lineage, standardization, and integration across source systems and tax applications.
Contribute to solution design and influence implementation decisions through data-driven insights and subject matter expertise.
Lead change management efforts related to new systems, tools, and processes, including training and stakeholder enablement to ensure adoption and sustained value realization.
Support the monitoring of emerging technology trends and leading practices, including generative AI use cases for tax, to advise stakeholders and inform transformation roadmaps.
Support and execute governance, controls, change management, and documentation consistent with the Company’s internal control framework and regulatory expectations.
Required Qualifications:
5+ years of Corporate Tax experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education.
1+ years of experience with corporate tax processes and data requirements, including tax provision and financial reporting, tax return reporting, and the application of technology to streamline, automate, and control these processes.
1+ years of experience translating business requirements into functional and technical specifications.
Desired Qualifications:
Significant knowledge of tax transformations, tax technologies, finance systems, and data-enablement with experience in data analytics or automation tools; e.g., Power BI, Alteryx, Python, or equivalent, to support outcomes and insights.
Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and drive delivery outcomes.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Experience with tax software platforms supporting provision, compliance, and reporting; e.g., Corptax, Oracle, Longview, or equivalent platforms.
Conversant in generative artificial intelligence, AI, capabilities and practical use cases for tax functions, including productivity, analytics, and knowledge management, with appropriate governance considerations.
Financial services industry experience and familiarity with U.S. GAAP requirements.
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field, advanced degree or relevant professional certification preferred.
